They beheaded the Sultan.

Ahh, upon reading http://www.roman-empire.net/constant/co ... index.html I found that Constantinople fell in the 13th century to Latin forces. That means Rome. The only other switch I can find came in 1261, when the Greek and Byzantine forces recaptured Constantinople from the Latin forces of the fourth crusade. So yeah, the city apparently fell, but not to the people whom you thought. It was actually those crazy Catholics again, not radical Islamists.

Also, it wasn't the capitol of the Holy Roman Empire, but rather the Byzantine Empire, who were known as the "Eastern Roman Empire". They were Orthodox Christians, if I recall correctly, and didn't fit into the Catholic umbrella of the Pope. These guys were similar to the Christians of the 1st through 5th centuries in their worship practices and belief system. I believe Orthodox Christians still inhabit Greece and the areas around it today.

Just wanting to clear stuff up, now continue onto the slinging of the word liberal.

I then used sarcasm to voice my amusement at these falsehoods, and then used further sarcasm when he assumed that I had given up the argument. I made no comment towards Israel, except to ask him what we should do with Egypt, as I was genuinely interested in his solution.

As an interesting sidenote, you say we use ludicrous examples of how cultures could get even by taking back land. Let's say that you're right. My example of the Indians fighting back against the Spaniards and Americans for taking their land is ludicrous. Why? Do those Indians have less rights to this land that they "owned" 300 years ago than the Israelites, who had been on the move for (if your bible is correct) 3000 odd years, have to their land? Why is the example of the Indians taking back the land from the Spaniards or, sarcasm free, the Americans, more ludicrous than Israel? Why is the case of Israel getting land after World War 2 not ludicrous, yet when Indians apply for the return of land in the continental US, they are laughed out of court? Why is their claim worthless and the Israelis valid?

If we can take land from the Middle East, land that had belonged to the Palestinian people for 2000 some odd years, and give it to the Israelis because they once lived their in pre-Biblical times, why can't we return the US to the Indians, or give the Caribbean back to the French and English?

My example wasn't ludicrous. It was sarcastic, but not ludicrous, considering our current political situation of the past 60 years.
