Ok, so I just realized that 7 years ago I started playing a video game... I havent played one since(to that extent) and that I actually met people across the world that I played that game with. Whoa /neo

Um,
Me, Ransure, started March 16th 1999 (only cause it was crashing too much on the 12th)

This 2cp has been brought to you by DOKURANGER!
Still here as in still play EQ or still on this board talking about it?
Winnow's born on date was March 17,1999 due to the same crashing servers but played in beta phase 3 and 4 before that! (back when beta's were more like...betas!)
365 RL days logged on Winnow alone before I called it quits. Don't want to think about the total with alts!
As for logging that much time ever again in an online game..no fucking way...I don't think SL tracks time played so I think I can safely say that!
Not sure this thread is necessary but wanted to grab the second spot...post whore that I am.

Zaelath was a SoL baby.
I played EQ for about an hour at work at release, 1/2 of which was trying to get out of a watery ditch in some newb zone in the dark, then didn't touch it again until a mate at work bought me an account..

I think I started Sylvus in April of 99, after school was finished for the semester. When I stopped playing him and let others use him, I think I was at around 160ish days.
I can hardly even remember EQ anymore, and I have no idea when I quit playing. There were several 6 months+ breaks, I think I quit for good soon after the expansion after PoP came out.

Chid was born on May 16 1999. I had about 40 days played on him. Started up Bordan my shammy because I wanted to get into pickup groups more easily if it was a light guild night. He also ended up with around 40 days played. The last character and the one I eventually settled on was my warrior Gorjah who was born in Dec '99. I had a little less than 70 days played on him before I quit.
I began playing EQ in December '99 on Veeshan as a Druid (Silencio Porfavor). A college friend of mine began playing at release and was on the server. He quit shortly after I started playing and gave me all his druid junk. It was uber at the time. I started a monk when I got bored of the druid (Xyphir). I quit playing in about March '04.
Marbus was born in late June of 1999, wasn't really that hardcore until my Dad died that October and EQ became my place of refuge... played him primarily until Aug of 2000 and got disgusted at how much Paladin's sucked so I started a DE Warrior named Marben. Played him primarily though Luclin with a few 3 month breaks in between, quit for good about the time Planes of Power came out as well...
Played some DoAC with friends and some VV people, played WoW in Ixtlan for about 8 or 9 months then have been playing EQ2 for a year as of Aug 2nd and still enjoying it a great deal. Our small guild is almost all old Veeshan people and actually 1 Veeshan person's Mom. We don't raid but are one of the highest level guilds on LucanDLere, are as perverted as ever help each other with TS, Quests and just having fun.
I don't get a ton of time to play with 2 young kids but sometimes we even play together. My 3 year old (4 in Nov) has a level 14 Paladin that he has leveled himself with my help. While I was under the impression he really didn't know how to play I have been amazed at recent developments. A few weeks ago he joined a group in Blackburrow and tanked for them for about 30 minutes, they all assumed he didn't speak English since he really didn't say much and when he did it was gibberish (LOL) they couldn't believe it when I told them a 3 year old had been tanking for them. Then while cooking dinner the other night he came and told me he had finished my kelp quest in Zek for me on my 33 Monk.... great I thought, I'm probably dead and have lost a bunch of exp... while he did eventually get killed he indeed had pulled the kelp mobs out of the ocean and finished the quest before getting killed (9 MOBs). His only mistake was swimming over to turn it in...
That's whats fun now for me, Monk at 33 is my highest charcater but the account is maxed and the lowest is level 12 so we have fun and it's a good distraction from Barney, Elmo, The Justice League or Batman Beyond
My EQ memories are the friends I have in here and in EQ2, and I often feel very blessed (heh, I'm sure some of you guys are laughing at that) to have a place where old friends with greatly different views can get together and share them.

Not really "original" since my first go at EQ wasn't on Veeshan, but I tried it out in late 99 / early 2000 and didn't really get into it (I blame the original interface hehe). Not long after Velious came out, some guys I worked with at the time convinced me to give it another try, and I've been playing on Veeshan since then.

Adelrune was born in EQ release on April 2, 1999. Before that, I was too busy on Tarew Marr dealing with all the petitions. I was a generation 9 guide and guided on both Test Server in Beta and then Tarew Marr at release.
I started my EQ career way back in the earliest beta due to my friendships with many of the developers. The oldest character I had was Faergus, a Barbarian Warrior in the pre updated Everfrost. Then I had Caanais, one of the first 4 bards in EQ. I was a bard pre-songs.
It has been a long time and it all runs together of late.

Coatlicue was born in June 2000 on Xunil's account, then I rerolled her on my own new account less than a week later
"officially" retired sometime in 2004. I did take a mini-break for about 3 months during the "wedding" season in 03.
For the life of me, I had a really hard time remembering some of the alts I had. I think they were Cohenya, Tyllani and something else. Ahh, the good ole days!
I don't play EQ anymore, but I do play WoW. Xunil and I also tried some of the other games that were released a few years ago, like Anarchy Online, DAoC, City of Heroes, SWG, etc. The name Sinnahmynh was born in CoH and I liked that name so much that I use it in WoW now

Jayne: Good. Cause I don't know these folks, don't much care to.

Wulfran was born in mid May '99 and kicked Nulien's butt the first time a day later (OK maybe a week later but thats it). Camped for the last time at the dock in Halas in mid December '04.
I now punt gnomes in WoW on Lightbringer.

Guiding sucked.. senior guiding was more fun, except for all the paperwork and organizing/scheduling of the guides which sucked even more than guiding. The commands and powers you had available to you as a senior were rather entertaining. Think I started on The Rathe (Zelorexa? pita female GM) then moved to the original Luclin to open that server when it started.Adelrune Argenti wrote:Before that, I was too busy on Tarew Marr dealing with all the petitions. Got into beta a few months before release then joined not long after that. Don't remember my first character though but I think it was Fror. I nuked his ass when I lost 5 levels in one night trying to make it through Kithicor at night.
My more well known characters were Dohrum, Kvahda, and Chub Underbush.

Started with a paladin in January, 2000. Created Dexail the rogue a few months later and he eventually became my main.
I was with Mawafu, Xunil and Coatie in The Elite Force, and then joined KoE with them about 4 years ago. I've been guildmates at one time or the other of about half the people that have posted
I'm more or less retired from all gaming at the moment.

Masteen, assling druid born in January 2000.
Played until the end of Luclin. The only reason I didn't quit sooner was that I had discovered the joy of PLing twinks in Guk.
Same bastard coworker that Aabi mentioned got me into EQ as well. FUCK YOU SMOOTHIE!
