Rolling Rock has been bought out by A-B, and they've closed the Latrobe brewery and moved production to fucking New Jersey.
Bye-bye 33.

p.s. Rolling Rock is awesome if you got it near the brewery. Spent many a PA night fishing and sucking down ice cold Rolling Rock.

You used to be able to get a case of Rock bottles for like $15. 63 cents a beer is mighty nice, even for American pisswater.Nick wrote:Rolling rock is horrific but at the price it sells at over here I do sometimes find it too hard to ignore (the equivalent of like a dollar a bottle).

Both sides of my family are from PA. My dad is big on getting Yuengling beer when it's available on the west coast. There's a Philly Cheesestake place that has it in Vegas. Gotta get a Cheese Steak, Yuengling and Tastycake whenever we go there on a visit.Canelek wrote: Yuengling is good stuff--it was a nice companion last year in NYC.

Yeah, I drank far too much of that crap in high school. I think there's a hormone that your body starts producing at the age of about 20 that makes Mickey's taste like bongwater. The smell of that stuff makes me nauseous today.Canelek wrote:Weak malt beer, and smells funny. Was good in high school.Moonwynd wrote:> all!

I'm from Pennsylvania, and Rolling Rock has never been a particular favorite of mine. I'll drink it over, like, Busch Light or something, but it's pretty nasty.
Yuengling, on the other hand, is awesome. I live maybe an hour from the brewery, and around here, you can just hold up a finger, or ask for a pint, and the bartender will bring you a yuengling.
Hearing all this talk of rolling rock and cheesesteaks and yuengling and tastycakes brings a tear to my eye. I have consumed all of those things quite recently.

Are you kidding me?? I bet I could name 20-30 beers that are worse. Anything from Budweiser or Miller is worse. That is like 40 different labels right there. I for one used to drink Rock when I couldn't get any imports or micros. I won't drink bud in a green bottle though. That shit is just nasty. As for Miller, I lived in Milwaukee for 3+ years and if you ever saw the water there it would make you sick.Skogen wrote:Good ridance....Rolling Rock is arguably the most disgusting beer ever created....up there with natural Light & Buckhorn.

I freakin' LOVED RR back in High School. As I was still developing a beer taste it was wonderful. One of my best friends extended family lives there and is somehow related (second cousin or something) so when they would visit they would bring back cases upon cases of RR. Loved and actully if I'm going to drink a lot, like watching football for 8 hours or something with the guys or I'm doing a lot of work outside... I still grab a case every so often.
Right now I tend to favor Fat Tire

For bottling beer, clear and green bottles allow more spectrums of light to penetrate, thus degrading the quality of the contents at an increased pace.
If you brew your own beer, always use brown bottles for that reason.
Still though, sometimes a mexican beer with a wedge of lime hits the spot.

rolling rock is gross...but there is NOTHING, NOTHING that can compare to the sheer disgust of natty light, having to drink natty light was our penalty for losing in beer pong at the frat house...i rarely ever puke from alcohol, but after chugging down a few of those i puked not from alcohol, but from the sheer disgust of that vile vile beverageSkogen wrote:Good ridance....Rolling Rock is arguably the most disgusting beer ever created....up there with natural Light & Buckhorn.

Yea I guess they don't do the Fat Tire on the east coast because of the alcohol content. I sold a deal to a guy in Atlanta who use to live in Phoenix and that was his favorite drink... can't get it in Atlanta. He was here in Arkansas one night and freaked when he saw it on the menu... while trying to close the deal I always rememberd to take a few with me on my trips for him... heh felt like the "Bandit" now if only I had a hot rod 1978 Trans-Am with T-Tops I'd be set!
