No clue how true the article is. He was definitely pulled over for a DUI, so it's entirely possible. If so.... hello bat shit insane-o cubed! Maybe Fox can hire him as a pundit?

Sure sure, you misinterpret the massive box office of Passion as anti-semitic, go to communion a couple too many times in one morning, and eeeeeeveryone thinks you're a freak. Poor Mel.
I'm sure if you stepped back and looked at the Big Picture, there's a perfectly rational explanation for this that the government is aware of but is keeping from the public for security reasons.

If it were anyone else bitching up a storm about jews and shit while drunk off their ass it would be a non issue and never would have made it into the report. Just the facts pertaining to the dui. But because it was a celeb he is being investigated as to having committed a hate crime? That's a whole lot of double standards. We as a nation love our movie heroes but we love them even more when they topple from the perch we put them on.

8 pages worth? This guy saw this incident as his ticket to some fame and money is what I am thinking.kyoukan wrote:any off color remark makes it onto a police report if the officer is doing his job properly.
I'm not stating that I have any pity for the rich and famous. I'm just stating that they get treated differently to the extreme. They either get away with murder because they are rich and famous or the get cruxified because they are rich and famous. I guess that is the price of fame.
It's also in the international interest of everyone that Gibson, who's films are meant (lol aye right) to be a non vicious education of history (including that of the jews) and who was meant to be doing a series on the holocaust, is in fact a raging anti semite.
(You know, assuming just for a second that anyone actually gives a shit).

A couple things about this that make me laugh...
First of all Gibson claiming he's "battled alcoholism most of his adult life" and blaming that for his beaking off. Bullshit. Alcohol accentuates, amplifies and sometimes exagerates but it doesn't change what a person believes. I mean come on: he's publicly proclamined his devout faith and we've never seen fundies hate jews because they "murdered Jesus" before...
Secondly the people saying his career is over are full of it. How many of you see an interesting trailer/preview for a movie and decide NOT to see it based on the director or star? Gibson's genre (action/historical action type flicks for the most part) doesn't attract a lot of deep intellectual thought: people watch these movies to see a half decent story with copious amounts of violence. As long as he delivers what his audience wants, people will still watch. As far as it goes, even now, in various aspects of my life, I put up with bigots who are good at what they do: I don't give a fuck if my mechanic hates a certain group as long as he does what I pay him to do, and doesn't involve me in anything he may want to do about it. Same goes for my butcher, the carpenter who built my house, or even contractors I deal with at my job. How many of you can honestly say you don't do the same thing?
And its not like most people care or will remember, 6 months from now, what he said or what this was about.

Most average people are very forgiving. Gibson won't have any problems outside of Hollywood. The people in the entertainment business are loving this because Gibson's "holyier than thou" facade has been busted and he appears just as ugly as they are.Wulfran wrote:And its not like most people care or will remember, 6 months from now, what he said or what this was about.
I predict this event will actually enhance Gibson's fame and fortune after his PR people have a chance to re-package him.
jesus, why the fuck do people care!?
i think the american and further the public of the world have a serious mental problem with there obsession over these celebrities...why is it when i turn on the news or another source of media that i am bombarded with information on some actior/director who has no relevance in my life? (other then my opinion that he is for the most part a great actor/director)
my friend got a DUI about a month ago, is it on the news? no...you know why its not on the news? because its not fucking relevant to anyone other then those close to him or some snoby bastard with nothing more important to do with their miserable lives then induldge in the gossip that "patrick got a dui OMIGOSH!"

You just disputed a lot of horny, bored guys who had their "only" gay experience after getting drunk. (And no I am not speaking from experience - my gay experience was after smoking weed and that is totally different...kidding)First of all Gibson claiming he's "battled alcoholism most of his adult life" and blaming that for his beaking off. Doug Stanhope was on Opie and Anthony today and he said if he could get all the publicity that Mel is getting he is going to say the same damn thing.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

I'll be interested to see how it plays out. The bottom line is that "hollywood" is a business, and Mel Gibson brings in a lot of money. I could see people overlooking this drunken outburst. Coupled with the fact that 98% of Middle America (read: Red States) won't give a fat rat's ass about his comments, I expect any movies he puts out to still bring in a lot of money.Fash wrote:The people saying his career is over have somewhat of a point, considering most of the money in hollywood is linked to jewish pockets.
Plus, didn't he make Passion with his own money, and make like a couple hundred million dollars as a result? He can probably afford to back his own projects now.
