Anyone remember the name of those companies who tried to make everything and be the best at anything?

Great, we will now have a bloated organization who isnt sure if they should be making video cards or motherboard chipsets or cpus....

Ati was almost great because they were just into video cards, once they started pondering into motherboard chipsets... well Nvidia threw down the 6800 series and has never bothered looking back.

AMD is probably nearing Intel right now with the name in CPUs, hell technically they could be better in some aspects... but their sole focus on CPUs will be watered down trying to get Ati caught back up with Nvidia.

This will turn into one of those companies that put out video cards like Savage 3D or Diamond... What about that IBM CPU!>?> What was the name of that lol.

This is shit for everyone... Intel and Nvidia will no longer have clear rivals and then they will not have to push so hard for the next performance gain on thier products. This is only bad news for consumers, and the rich fucks behind the companies will enjoy the merger profit gains as they retire.

i wouldn't exactly call it a lol. as masteen pointed out, it's still widely used, and was the mac proccessor from 1994-2006. also, it's in the gamecube, the xbox 360, and will be in the wii.
