Hosting Services

Post by Kylere »

Okay I am aware that this can be fun, but I do not need a co-hosted, co-located etc box, I need 10-20 gigs storage, and 20 gigs or so a month bandwidth, preferably with a decent front end for easily adding articles.pcis etc.

I get unlimited storage and badwidth from blogware since my wife works for Tucows and they own it, but to be honest...they suck.

If you know of something good with lower bandwidth, I could always host the older stuff on blogware I guess, since things like uptime are less important for archives.

powweb for $7.77/month allows you unlimited domains, 20GB storage and 400GB/month (13GB day) bandwidth.

Look how happy the lady is on the front page!

I've been happy with it for about a year. It has all the php, sql, etc etc stuff.

You have to have one of their higher packages though for 15-20gb of space.

I find it rather amusing that you need about the same amount of space as you do bandwidth - usually it's about 10x as much. On the other hand, the prices are still damn good.

POWWEB

7.77/month is already cheap but if you sign up for a year you get an extra 6 months free. (if you're looking for an even better price)

pros: fast, cheap, full featured, lots of storage and bandwidth, up 99.9

cons: it's 13GB bandwidth/day. That adds up to 400GB/month but you can't exceed the 13GB/day so if your goal is massive pirating, it may not be the best option. For most things, 13GB/day is plenty.

One of the Ops on VV might be able to tell us the average GB/day VV uses.
