Network Share Issue

Heya guys.

I have a wierd issue that I haven't encountered before and am unable to figure out. So here's how it works. I have a work laptop. It's not part of a domain, it's just a workgroup laptop. I have network access with my AD account. I get 3 strikes and I am out when entering the wrong password. I can then have to call the helpdesk and have my account unlocked and then I can carry on with my old password.

So here's the problem. I map to a shared drive, I have reconnect at logon enabled, I log on with a my AD user. It maps without a problem. I reboot and the mapped drive is still there but it says it's a Disconnected Network Drive. Which is fine because usualy you just double click on it and it says to enter your password. I enter my password and it gives me the following message "The referenced account is currently locked out and may not be logged on to." I figured ok my account must be locked out. So I call the helpdesk and the guy says your account isnt locked out. So I do a start - run and type \\ip addy\sharename$ of a different mapped drive that would have to prompt me for my AD u/p. It does. I enter my u/p and sure enough it lets me in. So I double click on the perma mapped network drive and sure enough it still gives me the same message that my u/p is revoked. I asked the helpdesk guy to check and and he says that the account still isn't locked out.

Any ideas?

Sounds like its still trying to use the old info? I'd disconnect the drive and remap it.

Do you have a local user with the same username/pass/rights as the user on the server?

The local user and AD account are two totally different names and passwords.

I tried to disconnect every mapped drive. I did a net use and it shows nothing connected. I do a reboot and it seems like it's still using some old info or wrongful password for god knows where.

after you reboot... can you get into the drive just by entering the literal path into a browser?

(ie: type //server/folder/folder into the browser instead of H:/folder/folder)

you could also try using an automapping startup script instead of the re-connect at logon checkbox

Open Control Panel.

Open User Accounts applet.

Click on the Advanced tab.

Click on the Manage Passwords button.

Click on the Add button.

Type in the name or IP address of the computer that host the shared resource.

Enter your login credentials.
