So i need help
I didnt want to post this in the computer section, because I wanted to get an answer asap and get this over with, so please forgive me.
Anyways, My father is a mechanic at a local Ice Cream making factory, and he has been putting items he needs on a spreadsheet in microsoft works, and then saving them all together on a CD-RW... but here strikes a problem, he want's to do some work on some old ones and then just save, but for some reason the program wont let us, because it is a "read only file" which I have no clue what it is about. It is saved as a (.xlr) if that means anything.
Curently, I have all the files saved In 3 different folders saved in 1 giant folder, and everything deleted off of the CD-RW... If anyone could explain to me what process I should go through to make the files easily saved on the disk without haveing to delete the whole disk then saving all the files over again will be great...
Thanks in advance

When you burn stuff to CD/DVD it sets the Read Only flag. Which is retained when you copy the files to a hard drive. Right click them in Explorer and choose properties and then uncheck the Read Only box at the bottom.
(Unless you mean update them in place on the CD. Which you more than likely can't do depending on how the rewritable disc was burned. Or something.)

How would I change it so I can save them from file to CD with out changing the CD...
Is there a way to correctly burn it?

I think that you are looking at the CD-RW as a media which can be changed "on the fly" like older 3.5" floppies. It might be a better idea to get a USB drive.sweetkastings wrote:How would I change it so I can save them from file to CD with out changing the CD...

Try saving them to the computer and re saving them again on the computer using the save as function (change the file name a bit). Make changes and back up again on the RW. Just a suggestion, my knowledge of RW is minor. Like Boogahz suggested, get a USB drive. Those things are much more business friendly.

Select Save as instead of save and change the name to "filename_todaysdatehere"
