Feral Druids
Question: What stats are prime when leveling a Feral Druid? What should I be looking to obtain in way of items.
For cat form, Str + Agi. For bear, Stam + Armor. My fighting set is currently a mix of that, but leaning toward tanking (bear) stats, and has no caster stats whatsoever.
My healing set is built of all the random caster leathers I have come across for the last 52 levels. It's kind of a mix of highbie and lowbie gear since I only upgrade when I find something better.

Considering how easy playing a feral druid (and WoW in general) is, stats don't really matter a whole lot. If you will be doing any healing at all, get a set of +wis +heal armor and a set of +anything else armor.
When I was leveling my druid up, I went str/agi/crit.
Was a few times when I forgot to swap back from my healing gear and I noticed very little difference other than it was taking me about 4-5 seconds longer to kill mobs.

You need to max out your GAY to be a good druid.

They're not. Feral AP is almost purely Str based.Animalor wrote:I thought that someone from Blizzard had stated a while back that cat druids wern't impacted by Agi in the same was as rogues or hunters. I may be way off on this however as I'm going from memory and haven't researched it.

Speaking as a Feral druid:
Bear = AC, AGI and STA. Gloves would be the +threat, cloak +dodge enchants. AGI is important because it influences dodge and crit. Crit is highly important to a bear tank, since that is our primary means of holding long term aggro, a skill in which we excel.
Cat = As much STR as you can stomach with +Haste items in every slot that can take them (if OOC build). If no other choice, go STA. Cloak = subtly. I take a glass cannon approach to cat form. Pure power, but will most likely die fast when you get aggro
Caster = As much INT as you can afford. +mana regen on everything that can take it. Your approach and tactics when healing will be much different than a resto. Don't try and do what they do, learn to rely on your strengths (ie: huge mana pool)
Overall, +Stats to all 3 form's chest.
Since HOTW gives 20% STR in cat, 20% STA in bear, and 20% INT in caster, focus on those stats for each form and you'll be aces.
These stats will vary greatly for a Resto druid. Restos require +healing in order to stretch their mana pool when healing. Ferals already have a sick amount of mana to begin with, so adjust your playstyle accordingly.

11/35/5 Pure Feral
I have 9.5k mana raid buffed when healing with about 200 +heal (pure coincidence, I do not go out of my way for +heal) and +20 mana per 5sec. I play on a PvE server.
In bear I'm at 14.5k+ AC with 30% crit, 6.5+k HPs. I'm called upon to offtank in MC all the time. I've tanked most everything there is to tank. We're just breaking into BWL and I've been healing there so far, no tanking experiance.
In cat I have 1300+ AP and 28% crit. I DPS during all trash on raids while being grouped with all rogues and DPS warriors. On boss fights, I either heal or tank/offtank.
I have 4 pieces of purple gear. The rest is pretty much the best non-raiding items I can get in the game. Granted, some of those blues are from AQ20 and that's very good feral equipment. I can't raid much since I work 2nd shift.
OOC is the best Feral druid skill out there IMO. It can boost burst dps in cat form by a disgusting amont and give you more options in bear. When it procs, it can change your entire fight, immediately opening up multiple options. It's a very fun skill.
I'd be happy to answer any questions you have. I know a lot about being feral.

And then, those free procs crit, and you're racking up 2 bubbles per crit, and you can't mash the buttons fast enough, all the while, generating energy to start it all over again. I love being feral.miir wrote:If you get a few procs close together, you can go into a button mashing frenzy.OOC is the best Feral druid skill out there IMO. Btw Bubba, if you're Horde you have the best druid race in the game. If I had to do it all over, I'd go Tauren in a heartbeat.
I just respecced my 52 druid feral and feel like an idiot. LoL I'm not used to maximizing my forms' abilities because I was always healing. It's very strange.
Anyway, my question is this, the 3 people that I know who are knowledgable in-game swear that feral is the way to go for leveling, that the exp will fly by a lot faster than resto I had before. In your experience is this true?

I was pretty much resto all the way to 60, since I doued with my wife's hunter. Only at 60 did I really start trying new things. I tried several different feral builds prior to 1.7, but they were all pretty gimped compared to their parent classes and I always ended up back as a resto. Besides, at that time I was conviced that I couldn't do anything without Innervate and Nature's Swiftness
Patch 1.7 changed everything. I'm as good as any warrior, I'm at least 80% of a rogue, and I heal like a fucking champ. I don't have the situational heals that a resto druid has. However, I have longevity in spades. It's a different way of doing the same thing. Besides... Decursing, Rezzing, Nuking, and Debuffing all cost me and a resto the same amount of mana, I just have more to spend. Feral druids fill a diffrent sort of slot when raid healing.
