I'm not a huge fan of female rockers, and even less a fan of female pop singers. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule, such as Portishead, I enjoy Courtney Love, and I was definately enamoured with Evanescence for quite some time. Well, now along comes this odd singer called Jem. Yes Jem, like the cartoon rocker from the 80's. Her music kinda-sorta enthralls me for reasons I cannot quite explain. I DLed her album "Finally Woken" and am obsessed with 4-5 of the tracks. She has this "gothic-pop" sound to her in much the same way as Evanescence had a "gothic-rock" thing going on. The problem with the album is it can't decide what it wants to be. Some songs are techno-heavy, throbbing and seductive, while others are light and fluffy. She should've chosen a theme and stuck with it IMO.
Regardless, the songs that work, work very well. Here is a link to Amazon, for those that care to give her a listen.

I highly suggest 24, Save Me, They, and Come On Closer (which is perhaps on of the sexiest/seductive songs I have ever heard). Every stripper in America will be dancing to this one, I promise.
Anyway, even if you don't like this type of music, burn it for your spouse!
Jem - I feel a little gay for loving this...
