A personal attack is not when Colbert makes a joke, whether you have a sense of humor or not, in his own perspective about certain things of our country. I hate to say this because it is a derail and silly.

But have no doubts that a WW2 style effort on the part of the US could have reduced Vietnam is component materials without nukes. Following the Tet Offensive the NVA was dramatically understrength, and with a actual commitment to winning it would not have been that hard.

This could be an entire thread of it's own, but if Vietnam had been a military conflict rather than a political abuse of the military, the US would have won.
