$200 for 3 fucking movies? That's absurd.

Each movie package is $30 each according to this article. So (by the power of math!) you're looking at ~$100 for the trilogy. Still fairly expensive for three movies.

From what I read earlier, the $30 each isn't a bad deal. Here's why:
Each title will go out as a two-disc set with a suggested retail price of $29.95.
Since I never bought Episode IV - VI, I guess it's a win-win for me.The original versions are being presented as "bonus material" on disc two of each package. Disc one will duplicate the material already in the 2004 box set.

I fucking hate George Lucas so much.
Instead of remastering for DVD, the originals are simply rips of the 1993 laserdiscs. 2 channel audio, and no anamorphic widescreen. The same versions you can already download off the newsgroups.

For the most part I agree. There's a few scenes tho, that my god, why oh why. The song in Jabba's palace is one. It's worse than Jar-Jar 100x over. And as cliche as it is, the Han shot first controversy also pisses me off. Why change that you fucking douche? Grr. But yes, the majority of changes are fine in my book.vn_Tanc wrote:The special editions are better anyway. Fucking retarded elitism over the "originals" gets my goat. If you're that bothered you should be watching yellowed copies on VHS because colour corrected THX DVD versions aren't "authentic" either.
There was always a song in Jabba's palace and it had some of the worst puppetry in the series associated with it. So I can see why it was changed for a different crappy song. The crappy song scales are balanced however, by the removal of the "jub jub" ewok victory song at the end.Dregor Thule wrote:For the most part I agree. I preferred Han shooting first. I agree it was pointless changing it. But it's 1.5 seconds out of 3 entire movies. I got over it.

The new band is totally off as far as the "feel" of the star wars movies. At least the old, poor puppetry didn't look like cartoons >< The song they sang was also much more in the background and not some up front musical bit they threw in like it was a freaking Disney movie.
Also, the blue anteater guy playing the piano thing rocked my socks.

Funny really, because that's almost what you're getting with the new ermm old Star Wars trilogy. Rips from anamorphic laser discs for $100?vn_Tanc wrote:The special editions are better anyway. George doesn't even have the common decency to give you a reach-around.

I have the original Star Wars on Laserdisc and still have my player! Not sure if it still works or not though.Canelek wrote:Same box set release with new 'features'...I think I would rather buy a laserdisc player and the discs at some garage sale than that.
Only the coolest of people had laserdics and flipped those discs for the sake of picture quality!
