Serenity available in HD-DVD format in the first week...
I guess universal has a lot of faith in the title to release it as it's first HD-DVD title to consumers.

I WANT TO SPEND $30 FOR DOOOOMMM yay. (never actually saw it, but really)
Has anyone actually upgraded from an up-convert processor (1080i) to this shit yet? Just curious...I mean, like, can you tell the difference?
If so, then damn cool...
Serenity is good shit. I need to buy the box set one of these days...

Don't they have to film the picture with HD cameras to have a true HD version available? I wonder about the digital cameras too, like the Star Wars prequels. I thought Lucas filmed those with some new technology to be prepared for HD.
Say what you will about Episode 3, it was beautiful at points. That intro space fight was amazing.

Yes the original film has to have been recorded digitally to notice any real difference. These companies are pushing out digital players WAY too fast in order to win the format war. I feel bad for any sucker paying top dollar for one now, unless they know full well about the only thing they are going to get out of it is slightly better resolution for Star Wars episodes 2 and 3.
Even if every film was filmed digitally now, the jump between DVD and HD DVD is insignificant compared to the jump from VHS to DVD. And that is not counting the massive backlog of movies that will never look any different on HD DVD.

Holy Christ I hope you're just trolling. That was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Although now that I think about it, it was written by L. Ron Hubbard, right? Makes me wonder if it was some sort of Scientology continuity thing.Hrmm Battlefield Earth would look even cooler then.
And on that note, if I was picking a religion based solely on entertainment value I could see being a Scientologist. At least there's cool space battles and aliens in it.
Yeah, just don't forget that the difference you saw was in theatre technology, and I'm not even sure it could be compared to the difference we would see at home.Xouqoa wrote:I saw Attack of the Clones in an all digital (sound/picture) theater in Florida and it was awesome. That was a few years ago, though.
Higher end home theaters put most Theaters you pay to see movies in to shame.Truant wrote:Yeah, just don't forget that the difference you saw was in theatre technology, and I'm not even sure it could be compared to the difference we would see at home.Xouqoa wrote:I saw Attack of the Clones in an all digital (sound/picture) theater in Florida and it was awesome. Better sound, better picture (almost always better picture), more comfortable seats, less germs, less noise. No fucking gum stuck to the bottom of your shoes! ...and can drink booze while watching if desired. : )
