So I re-activated EQ2..

And I am actually having a lot of fun! Seems like a lot of minor changed they made have been very successful. Been quite a while since I've had this much fun playing a MMORPG.

Good luck. If you enjoy what you play, then do it. My opinion of the game will keep me away from it permanently, but to each his own. I won't play it, but then again I don't have a game that I'm playing consistently, and I've been looking for one since the downfall of EQ ages ago.

So - more power to you. Grats on the fun, I'm jealous.

Did you play EQ2 at all Rellix?

If not, you really should give it a try.
It doesn't give you the instant gratification of WoW and the progression is quite a bit slower, but you get a sense of accomplishment which seems to be lacking in wow. The average player also seems to be a lot more helpful and mature than most other MMOGs I've played recently.

I have recently seen a few more goobers in EQ2 but not NEARLY as many as WoW. For instance, thus far in the newbie areas I have only seen a couple of really stupid converstaions in open chat. That was a constant problem in WoW, to the point that I had to just turn that channel off.

They are getting ready to make it so that you don't have to do the subclass stuff and are making the Isle of Refuge "different" for Freeport people. Guess I'll have to start another evil character to check it out.

They are definitely adding some WoWesque stuff which is fine because hopefully it will keep it growing. Leveling takes a lot longer and initially the world just didn't seem as "bright or fun" but after a couple of weeks I came to love it.

I will most likely get the expansion for WoW when it comes out, who knows I may switch back then but for right now. EQ2 is taking up most of my free time... which isn't much to begin with.

What's different is that I'm with a old group of friends, some from EQ and some from RL who I played EQ with as well. Our guild level is almost 31 so we get all the good benefits but no pressure. People are just there to hang out, have fun etc... I LOVE to Win, but just don't have the time to put into raiding with small kids. This way I still get to play and have fun but without the pressure... abet I do miss Ixtlan and all my friends on Whisperwind, I try to log in an say Hi! every couple of weeks but usually everyone is in another channel so I just walk around a bit then log :(

I tried EQ2 back when it first came out and I did not enjoy it. I couldn't get into it for a number of reasons and so I stuck with EQ.

When my guild switched over to WoW, I didn't like it for many of the same reasons I didn't like EQ2. It grew on me over time and the game was fun. I enjoyed it right up into level 60. The game was tolerable if you turned off general chat in the newbie zones, and in all raid instances. Actually, I keep my general chat turned off so I don't have to see those idiots. Their ignore list needs to be expanded to fit at least a thousand people. I hate having to negotiate who to remove when I need to ignore another moron from a BG.

I started getting burned out in WoW because there really isn't the sense of accomplishment that EQ had. The only things I can think of would be: finishing the hunter epic quest and killing a few boss mobs. Anyone with a few hours a day can crank out a new level 60 toon in a month, and new high end guilds pop up at the same pace. Aside from the missing sense of accomplishment, I ran into some computer trouble which left me crippled in my ability to raid with my guild (which was all there was left to do in WoW).

I had an EQ2 collector's edition key code (the pet dragon is really cool!)and decided to give it another try. A lot of the things that I had disliked early on in EQ2 were the same features that grew on me in WoW. Starting over in a new game meant that I had a lot to learn and didn't need to worry about crashing/LDing during a raid and holding the guild up.

I am enjoying EQ2 a lot. I like the fact that it is harder to level in EQ2, and that some of the quests are a real bitch and a half to complete. When I finally finished my betrayal quest at level 14, I was thrilled. It definately added to my character's development.

EQ2 is still new and fun to me and I think there are a lot of neat features that will keep people playing for a while.

Yes, I played a bit of Beta, I played with some trial account several months into it, and Wonko let me try it out a few months ago. Each time, I couldn't stand playing it for more than a week. Not really sure why.

I'm pretty satisfied with WoW atm, also not sure why. It's not at the point where I *WANT* to constantly be on whenever I can be though, which is the kind of game I'm looking for.

Well said man. That is exactly the same feeling I have with WoW right now. I don't HAVE to be on. I still play a good amount, but I do so many more things IRL now with WoW as my game. Well said.

That is how I feel about EQ2 as well :) I play when I want to, I log off when I want to and I am thoroughly enjoying myself. That is all a game should be imo, I did the hardcore raiding and got sick and tired of it. I feel the urge to do it every now and then but it quickly passes.

I decided to fire up EQ 2 again, but I have no idea where to go / what to do now. I quit right after DoF came out, my guy is a 50 or 51 Inq; where is the good XP these days? Are people grouping again? Is there anywhere for low 50's in DoF or KoS to xp? Are there new quests for armor?

For your level you're going to want to go to Clefts of Rujark for the most decent exp. It's still kind of a grind but with 100% vitality it should be tolerable. I would try to get a group up on the third floor or so, since that's going to be the best exp for that area. There are elevators (lifts) that go up to each floor. The lifts require a key and this key is obtained via a quest you can get by right clicking the "lift activator", the quest is called The Lift Key of Rujark. It's really simple, a level 50 quest. All you have to do is kill The Overseer downstairs to get the update for the key. Clefts will stay pretty decent experience for you until around 54-56. You'll notice it start to slow down then.

After Clefts, move to Pillars of Flame and hope to find a Giant or Cyclops group..that should get you decent experience until around 58-59. You may be able to get a group sooner in the higher levels because you are a healer class, we get kinda lucky in that aspect =).

There is a quest that you need to do, it isn't a must have for zone access but it is a really nice mount, 40% run speed and it gives you access to be able to use any of the carpets located in DoF. The first quest in the line of 4, if I remember correctly is Threads of the Desert, a lvl 50 quest, and the starting NPC can be found off to the left side of the docks (if you are looking at the water) his name is Elkhazi the Purveyor of Fine Carpets.

Anywho, this will get you started, you also have Prismatic 2.0 to work on, if you want...and when you hit 61 you can start on your class hat quest, and about 62 you wanna start working on your Claymore quest. If I were you, I'd go to http://www.ogaming.com and look up some of these quests and go to http://www.eq2players.com and direct yourself to the forums for your class to find out answers on what spells you get now and what other places you can look for information. I'd type it all out now, but I'm just too lazy and I'm working on Heritage Quests that I've been slacking on now for 30 levels! If you have any questions about anything I said, let me know~
