Clerks 2 Teaser Trailer

Post by Canelek »

http://clerks2.com/teaser/large.html

http://www.clerks2.com for news, etc.... Guess they wrapped last November. Did a search here, but didn't see anything so thought I would throw this out there. Sure, it will be goofy and sometimes retarded, but that is the draw of Smith's films anyways... Good times...looking forward to seeing this later in the year.

WTF happened to Jay? His pic on the teaser link doesn't even look like him...

Damn, too slow on the ninja edit... when I saw his photo on that site it looked like they'd recast him. :)

Looks like Good Burger but with a snotty white Gen X'r who used to be funny instead of a lovable colored kid.

The tagline should be "We can't leave well enough alone"

But hey maybe George Clooney and David Coverdale from Whitesnake will have hilarious cameos.

Post from Kevin Smith's blog about the impression that some people had about this particular movie after a test screening.

Comparing GoodBurger to Clerks is something akin to comparing the Dungeons and Dragons movie to LOTR.

Coverdale is recognizable enough for a cameo? :) And I almost agree, given that Clerks and its offspring have been driven into pop culture pretty hard. However, I am sure there will be enough laughs to cover the price of admission--not quite looking for comic genious here...just a couple chuckles.

I see absolutely no purpose in hauling Clerks out of the cryogenic freezer, but who knows, Smith has pulled the occasional rabbit out of his ass in the past.

Watched the full trailer a couple days ago...looks funny. :)

As to the comment about Mewes. He looks different because he's sober.

I'm all for this. If Kevin Smith was going to take shits on screen, I'd pay to see it. If you haven't seen it yet, and want like 4 hours of hilarity, pick up 'An Evening With Kevin Smith' and watch it. Basically he goes to a few different universities and answers questions on just about any topic. It's hilarious and somewhat informative too.

The one thing I don't understand is that he'd said in the past that there would be no more Jay and Silent Bob related movies, and here this is. Does anyone know when/why the change of heart occurred? Could be just $$$$$ or he couldn't get work doing anything else I suppose, but I find that somewhat hard to believe.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

I haven't watched the trailer yet, but Jay and SB were more peripheral characters in Clerks than in other movies. Perhaps this doesn't fit the bill as a "Jay and Silent Bob-related movie"?

Alternatively, he could have just changed his mind. Jordan came back to the NBA, Barbara Streisand has done how many farewell tours, Halle Barry said she wouldn't do another X Men movie...

He also made a promise to Mewes that if he got clean he would make another J&SB film. I think this was a compromise of those two promises.

I think the issue was that Smith, at the time of that declaration, thought that people wouldn't want to see a couple of 35yo stoners/drug-dealers.

Clearly he was wrong. =)

Could be cool, clerks was a good film :)

Btw, is Jason Lee (who acted in some of Kevin Smith's films) actually a scientologist? According to wikipedia he is, which makes me cry a little irl.
