Some interent blocked at work, any solutions to work around?

Post by Venti »

This is an example of the text I get when trying to get to "unapproved" web sites. Any possibilty of a work around that comes to mind?
The website you are trying to access at:
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/

Has been blocked for the following reason:
The Websense category "Games" is filtered.
There is an option to enter a password to override it, but I dont have that ><

What now? Let me tell you what now. Call a coupla hard, pipe-hittin' niggers, who'll go to work on the IT Department with a pair of pliers and a blow torch. Get medieval on their asses.

you need to be aware that attempts to hit prohibited sites are automatically logged.

If your IT department has been using Websense for some time it probably automatically emails a report to various managers throughout the company of those attempts.

Not that I have ever done this but.....

Changed original post.
I'll do this by example.

http://www.google.com

In the search block type: http://www.eqatlas.com

Enter

Click "Show Googles Cache of http://www.eqatlas.com"

Now say you want to click a link in there.
Click the link. It will be blocked also. Then go up to your address bar. Copy and open a new Google.
Paste the new link into Google....rinse repeat.

And you won't get shitcanned if you're caught.

JFC, what a waste of human endeavour.

We don't even bother putting filters in, we just log everything and fire people who spend all their day fucking about.

Use Remote Desktop Connection and browse from work using your home PC.

Depending on how smart your IT department is in regards to Websense and probably BlueCoat, just go into the tools/InternetOpetions/Connections/LanSetting on IE (if that is what you are using at work) and uncheck the box that says "Automatically detect setting." If they allow connections to by-pass the proxy and websense, this will allow you to do so... worth a try.

I have this same issue at the Air Force base, fortunately the company provides a VPN that allows us to pretty much circumvent the restrictions (cept they don't know that's what we use it for ).

My issue atm is getting IRC working. I don't need to use the VPN to use IRC... but its SLOW AS SHIT when its up. I've used both IRC clients that Py has listed, and the CGI:IRC client installed on my personal server, and its still retardedly slow.

I can't promise this will always be available, or that it will work for every firewall... but try this: http://216.12.200.35/cgi-bin/nph-prx.cgi

I've offered it up before and have had to take it down for over-use.. but if someone likes it and wants their own dedicated copy, I'm sure we could arrange something through pm.
