PC game download websites
Do any of you know of any reliable sites that are worth the money? This website says they have 800 million games and a one-time membership fee of $40. Are any of these games good and recent? I'm just sick of all this fucking software I have to carry around every time I move my computer around.

torrentspy.com
i've also used direct2drive.com before. no problems but the selection is limited
as for storage.. i just keep all of my CD's on a handful of those big spools that CD-R's come in. I write any CD keys on the face of the discs and just put the boxes & instruction booklets up on a shelf or in a box somewhere.

I TOLD YOU ID SHOOT! BUT YOU DIDNT BELIEVE ME! WHY DIDNT YOU BELIEVE ME?
Selection is one prime factor in my decision. I want a site like Direct2Drive that has more than 10 games (namely - GTA: SA and all of the Final Fantasy games). I'll check out torrentspy, thanks.

just looked at that ultimategamedownloads site.. it just looks like a scam. the way they word the "downloading" section makes it sound like a sharing engine that you pay for. 800 million titles without listing a single one = they are all lame or its just a bunch of bullshit.
plus look at their front page ad.. the 50 year old dude playing video games like he's just injected heroine into his eye... is that a face of trust?

I was thinking something along those lines. The fact that they don't have any listing of any of their games, or even a sneak peak at the layout of the website and its contents, makes it highly suspicious.

yeah youre not likely to find anything. I think the licensing on that method of delivery is difficult to do which explains their limited selection. but at least you dont have to pay 40 bucks just to be able to browse around.
i was looking for an alternative to D2D not too long ago and just ended up going to torrents

Newsleecher w/supersearch and Giganews unlimited = ~$28/month (if you download 25GB or less a month, cut that to ~16.99 for instant hella fast download speed access to whatver you want. Consider it an unlimited Movie/Music/App/Game/Image/Book/Etc monthly subscription. It's the best, no hassle method out there. (Supersearch/Newsleecher is the key for finding everything so easily...search for anyting and you'll have up to 10,000 hits in less than a second from an 80 day database that is current up to about one or two minutes behind live newsgroup posts)
You can fart around all day using torrents or just search, select, and download off the newsgroups ten times as fast or faster. (grab 1,000 MP3's in an hour for example or an entire Divx/Xxid movie in ~10 minutes)
Giganews' 60-70 day retention (900+ days for text) allows me to use the newsgroups as my personal 100,000 song jukebox. A lot of the time, I don't even download MP3s anymore. Just search, open and load them into your music player right off the newsgroups to play a particular song I'm thinking of.
Next to newsgroups, DC++ is best for oddball stuff, comics, etc. after you locate the correct hubs.
Probably got a little off topic, but it just amazes me that more people don't use newsgroups for their shenanigns.
Best newshost: Giganews
Best binary newsreader: Newsleecher (Spiral is constantly improving on whats already the best out there...very active development)
Of course, buy the media that you want to see more of.

Is this all legal, Winnow? I'm sort of on a university campus.
Most people would have read your post there and not understood a single word of it. =Pbut it just amazes me that more people don't use newsgroups for their shenanigns.

Most of the software/movies/etc you'll find on newsgroups is pirated. The only legal thing about it is that you're legally paying giganews for newsgroup access. They don't control the content.Leonaerd wrote:Is this all legal, Winnow? I'm sort of on a university campus.

University shouldnt matter too much I dont think. I know people in the dorms here that use bittorrent to get all of their games and music. I would download a good bittorrent program (I use Azureus myself) and get some torrents. http://www.mininova.org and http://isohunt.com will have pretty much anything you need.
