But where can I get a free dvd player for my PC?

software or hardware? i like VLC for a software dvd player, it's what i use on my mac and my windows machines

VLC kicks ass, I'm surpised it doesn't get more press/use.

VLC is nice but has crap for customization. I use VLC when nothing else works though.

I may not have taken the time to look into it but I couldn't get VLC to maintian the same screen size each time I opened it, program frame-by-frame advance, customize slow motion, etc.

Besides basic playback, it seems extremely limited. (am I missing plug-ins or something that allow for more customization?)

Can't say I'd use any of that crap, so I don't feel the loss.

Here's the thing though, it can play files as they're downloading that media player can't. It's light and quick, seperates controls from the player in a sane manner, has a play list that's easily accessible and works.

Downside, seems to spack on some filters (which I'm too lazy to download and use media player for)
