One last day on Veeshan

Post by Ogbar »

It just so happens that my current EQ2 account configuration also allows access to my old EQ1 characters. Yesterday, I logged in Ogbar for one last tour, and did the following:

*) Went to Butcherblock and zoned into Kaladim. Almost drowned in one of the undergroud streams when I couldn't figure out at first how to surface (wouldn't that have been a colorful end). Said my goodbyes to the King and the Warrior trainer, then left.

*) Next I took the book shuttle to GFay and headed over to Crushbone. Emporer Crush, D'Vinn, and and an Oracle were in the tower. D'Vinn started trouble, but thankfully, Oggie was able to finish it. Mind you, D'Vinn did take him down below 20% health (how pathetic is that!). BTW, D'Vinn had the dirk (woot!), but Crush had nothing (rip-off!).

*) Left Crushbone and took the book shuttle to Misty Forest. I really wanted to off some of those ks-ing guards, but my time was limited, and as Oggie was only up to about 40% health at the time, I didn't dare chance it. Ran through Rivervale, eventually making my way to Highpass Hold.

*) In Highpass, I made my way to the Tiger's Roar, bought 2 stacks of Honey Mead (Oggie's drink of choice), got shit-faced and stumbled to room #4, where I logged out.

So, with that nostalgic tour, I take my leave of Veeshan and Everquest: for good and for real this time. Ciao, Veeshan - you will always be remembered fondly.

So, if you had one last chance (for, say, a couple of hours or so) to log on to Veeshan before it disappears, what would you do?

Thats pretty creative and well thought out. The alst day I was on luclin when i said goodbye to everyone I think I was really just messing around in Tranq doing nothing of importance.

At least you did the in game farewell.

I took Animale back to Ak'Anon and camped on the overflow side of the dam after going and killing everything in the mino cave for final revenge.

Was nice to return to the beginning.

Oggie, that's about the way I'd do it :p. don't take this the wrong way, but i think Voronwe at lvl 29 with a rusty 2hs did better against Dvinn than you did :p

Tiger's Roar would be a good spot for Voronwe to spend his days as well. though maybe I'd exproit and log out along the North Wall in fearplane!!!

I can imagine the tavern keeper at Tiger's Roar seeing all of these high level adventurers returning for a drink among old friends, decked out with their fancy armor and weapons and remembering the first time they came in, fresh with new bronze armor or boasting of their new fine steel weapons, looking for more information about the mysterious frogloks of guk.

Good times.

I visitied each one of the areas I had fond memories of and killed a select few MoBs of old. I then went and killed Crush/Dvinn, and logged at the feet of the druid guildmaster in Gfay.

So, I went out of EQ the same way I came into it. Was a great run, but the time constraints just became too much with the new job and such. I occasionally miss my druid. He was really a badass and I was definately proud of how good I was at playing him in any given situation.

Im just upset that all the good days of EQ has passed. I used to love sitting behind Jades, and watching Iksar Monks FD in the Bank with 10 gaurds on them. I remember people being scared shitless and training spectars/SG's to docks in Oasis, or people deathly afraid of going into kitchkor at nigh at level 50. I also remember people getting pissed with there lvl 12 druid or something because that can't get a group at orc 1 in EC. Those were good times.

I've logged in once or twice to say hi since the annoucement of the demise of Veeshan - but last night I decided to officially and permanently log out Rellix. Said farewell to a few of those online that I've met over the years, and planted him in the exact spot he was born, the shaman guild of Halas.

I haven't played since October, and I completely despise the game - yet it was still a sad experience to log him out one last time.

When I logged out skogen for the last time, I parked him on pillar #1 in S Ro. sat, camped, & waved goodbye! That was 3 years ago!

I still remember when one of my friends in Da Troll Patrol stopped, we had a big guild (ok, big for DTP, like 15 people or so) in Feerott, with him giving out all his old stuff, some raffles, drinking and fighting, then 4 of us ported around the world so he could see the zones one last time, and ended with us going to Lavastorm and have him levitating into the lava pit.
Cant find the pictures anywhere unfortunately.

This time around when I quit for good (again), I think I'm going to have to do it in front of or on top of the bank in North Freeport. It's the spot that makes me sad everytime I visit it these days due to it being a ghost town. That bank used to be the center of the EQ universe.

Expansions are coming too quickly now imho.. Hopefully it won't be the lag and maze fest that DoD is. Also don't see myself buying 5 copies of any further expansions again. Curious if it'll actually be a new FP or just new stuff off of it (ala Nektulos and old Neriak).

That will answer your questions. Basically though, it's just a huge visual upgrade (bah!).

I'm afraid it's still going to be a ghost town.

I'd need to visit D'Vinn and Crush one last time, prolly take a stroll through chardok, and then hit the 10k fall into the Hole as a final act of stupidity.
