help with windows autofill feature

Post by icknay »

So when I'm at a site and there's a field to enter my email addy, how do I clear the ones that are already in there? I've changed my email a few times and the old ones still appear once I type the first letter. Is there any way to clear these out? I need the answer to this for XP AND win98.
Thanks!

Auto-complete is application specific, so you can't ask for how to do it on a couple of OSs.

Outlook for example keeps the email addresses in a file in application data, and you can delete entries by (once the list appears) pressing the down arrow key and the delete key. This of course doesn't work for Internet Explorer or any other browser that I'm aware of.

So... good luck with that.

The only sure fix for this stuff that I'm aware of is creating a new profile.

ok I figured it out. It's an IE thing, not a windows thing. Tools/Internet Options/Content tab. It's called Autocomplete and there's buttons to clear the existing, as well as turning the feature on and off. Done.
