So I'm watching TV..

Post by Siji »

...and sitting on my couch relaxing. All of the sudden my two cats come flying into the room from the porch and haul ass down the hall towards the bedroom. A split second later, a huge dog comes tearing through my living room following my cats.

The dog isn't mine. The porch is screened.

So.. as I'm yelling at the dog and trying to make sure that (A) it doesn't eat my cats and (B) it doesn't try to attack me, I'm not even really thinking about being pissed off. But now that the guy that was taking his dog for a walk has his dog back and left, and my cats and I are ok.. I'm rather fucking pissed off.

(A) There's a huge hole in my porch screen now
(B) If the stupid fucking owner was holding onto the dog, I don't see how it could have gotten through the screen, out of his grasp and then ran through my apartment
(C) If it had caught one of my cats, I'd not only be saddened, but I would have lost any similarity to humanity and restraint that kept me from attacking the dog or owner
(D) If it had attacked me, I would have turned it into a pile of meat

Also, luckily I was in shorts and a shirt - but if I hadn't been dressed, and all the sudden had a strange dog in my apartment - what am I going to do? Tell the owner to hold on outside and let the dog wander around while I get dressed? It's 12 fucking 30 in the morning. It's been nice here weather wise, and I had my sliding door to the porch open and the cats were chilling on the porch as they always do. Yes, I can understand the dog pulling the owner towards the porch screen if he saw/smelled them - but for the dog to actually break through the screen clearly indicates to me that it was walking freely. The screen literally has a hole in it - it's not like it came out from the little rubber sealing and has a flap open.. it's torn in the middle.

So tomorrow I'm going to go lose my mind at the leasing office. Any creative suggestions for things to say, things to demand, ways to express my complete livid anger? Are there any legal things to threaten the apartment complex with? Don't get me wrong, I don't want to sue them, but fuck if I don't want them to do something about it. I mean fuck, some huge pit bull looking type thigh-high dog was running around my apartment at 12:30 am..

What would you have done?

That is a seriously funny story. I'd almost certainly have squealed like a ninny, considering the time of night.

Were I you I'd hire the predator, yes the movie one, and learn his language. Have him teach you all he knows about killing, maiming and the like. Then, months later, once you've mastered the art of covert, almost invisible battle tactics, grab a rocket launcher and kill the dog.

Most cities have pet laws. I don't know if yours does, but you might want to check on that, it could save you a lot of time and hassle. And most apartment complexs also have some sort of pet laws. It could help....I'd be pretty pissed off though, thats bs, they have those extended leash things now days....even that is better than nothing.

That site answers some pet questions, not great but i think the first question should help in your situation. Depending on state of course...

Jesus Christ, just go confront the fucker, and make it clear he needs to pay for repairs, if he is a cockmunch, serve the shithead and collect in small claims court.

In summation offer him the chance to be a man, then if he fails treat him like a boy.

The problem with that Kylere is that at the moment, I just wanted him and his dog gone. I didn't get any of his information. The only thing broken was the screen, which I guarantee the complex will be fixing.

As for leash, the dog had one on.. that he was gleefully trailing behind him without the owners hand attached.

Oddly enough, one of my concerns was raising too much of a fuss at the moment and having the owner beat the fuck out of the dog to 'make ammends'. I don't believe it was the dogs fault so much as it was the owners and I didn't (and never do) want to see an animal beaten. If the owner hadn't let go of the leash, or let the dog go freely, it wouldn't have had the ability to break through my screen, run into my apartment and chase my cats around.

There's really likely nothing that anyone can do, but I was just pissed.

You want to evict the guy because his dog got out of his grip one time? As long as there isn't any harm done to you or your pets and you're getting your screen door fixed then what the fuck is the problem?

i'm sorta with Kyo on this, dont get me wrong i'm glad no harm came to you and your cats and your screen door was the only thing destroyed which you will get fixed at no cost to you.

i'm sorry the dog got a beating from his owner cuz it's not the dogs fault he did this.

but shit happens, and you're mildly upset, i see this beeing a funny story to tell at dinner in a few months time for you, but with a semi serious undertone about animal laws etc.

Where the fuck did I say anything about anyone getting evicted or my desire for anyone to? If you're referring to this:
at the moment, I just wanted him and his dog gone
I was referring to them getting the hell out of my apartment. If I had wanted him evicted I would have gotten his information. (Not that he would have gotten evicted of course)

I also didn't say the dog got a beating, I said I didn't want to raise a fuss with the owner because I didn't want the dog to.

It wasn't a big deal this time because nobody got hurt, and nothing got broken, but if it could have been a rather bad situation if a child was involved or if any number of other things happened. If you're walking around a large dog in a public place (especially if it was a pit bull as I believe it was), yes I damn well fucking expect you to keep it on a leash. If your pussy ass can't hold onto your dog, you shouldn't have it.
