Good High-End Online Watch Shop?

Post by noel »

Looking for a good online high-end watch shop so I can save some cash on my Dad's 60th B-day present.

Any help is appreciated!

Hell, Noel. You are as old as I am so you better damn well know how tits SWATCH watches were during the 80s, what with the cool rubber thingies and all.

I'm not sure a watch is something you want to strictly buy online, especially a high end watch. I'd hope that if you see something, that you'd go to the store first and check it out. Exactly how much are you looking to spend?

It's not really the cost that's the problem. I've already seen the watch, but my mom (and dad) will freak out if I spend what I want to spend on a watch for him, so I'm just looking for an online source to limit the damage. My dad has generally inexpensive taste, and comes from the generation that would balk at spending 2k on a nice watch. He would literally refuse the gift if I spent that much, and I'm not trying to piss him off on his 60th.

I've shopped with wristwatch.com in the past, for some low end sports watches. They carry a decent selection, but they don't happen to have the one I'm looking for.

Thanks anyway guys. I have some sources for the one I'm looking for, just wanted to see if anyone else had used an e-store and gotten good results.

Probably not what you're looking for, but there's usually some cool stuff here:

I've had very good experience with them with the couple I've bought.

Noel, I am collector and daily wearer of fine watches. I own three Tag Heuer, an Omega, 2 Panerai, 2 Breitling, a Ulysse Nardin, a Bregeut, a Bell & Ross, a Girard Perragaux, and a host of medium end watches. Most of my watches were purchased through an AD (authorized dealer) but I did get some of them online.

Either PM me or post what watch you are looking at and I will give you the most reputable and reasonable online seller.

Regards,

Moon

Why dont ya make a fake receipt? When he asks, say the fake price, and he asks for proof, say you got the receipt at home.

Exactly, Cid.

Thanks Moonywynd, I might do so. I only have a Tag myself, but I'd love to see your collection sometime. Most people don't even know what a Panerai is.

Spang, he's currently wearing a 2-3 hundred dollar Festina.

Atlantic Time is reputable. Keep in mind that quality watches purchased from anyplace other than an authorized dealer (authorized dealers do not sell online) will not come with a manufacturer's warranty.

You will also find that some online dealers...even the "reputable" ones...doe not give you a watch with the appropriate caseback. Often times the serial numbers have been "removed" from the caseback. The watch is authentic...but they are not allowed to legally sell certain brands without being an AD...and as such they skirt the issue by removing serial numbers.

And any watch with an automatic movement will need to be serviced every five years to keep the movement accurate and functioning. Servicing varies in price from make/model. But I just had my Heuer (pre Tag) Monaco serviced by an AD and it was well worth it.

If your looking for a nice high end watch, then take a trip to or find a contact in the cayman islands (or likely some other places near there as well), you will literally make up the cash for a trip from the amount you will save, for my I got my watch there for literally almost half price of what you would pay here, I think it was 2k and some change less

Hey Noel...here's a wrist shot and a few others of my Panerai 1950 that I am wearing today.

It's a rather large watch...47mm...and the domed sapphire crystal really adds dimension.

http://www.worldwatches.com/

I bought a Citizen Navihawk chrono from them a few years back and paid half what local jewelers were asking, and even beat the prices I saw in the shops in Montego Bay. They did require a phone call to gather payment info but the shipping was fast and the watch came in the original box with all paperwork.
