Apocalypto

Post by Crav »

Trailers: http://www.apple.com/trailers/touchstone/apocalypto/

At first I thought it was Mel Gibson doing Revelations, but boy was I wrong. I am not really sure about the story as a lot of it is being kept under wraps. It's rather interesting as Gibson isn't using any big name actors and is in fact using local Mexican actors from the area. They are also using a Mayan dialect instead of English for the dialog.

WTF is this hard-on for dead languages?

I suspect subliminal brainwashing is afoot!

Technically the dialect of Mayan used isn't dead. I would assume it's kind of like Gaelic in that a small population still actually speaks it.

What was the movie that tapped into ancient aramaic ? Stigmata or something maybe. Talk about dead languages.
