This PSU will help cool that Sonata case as well. It has front and back fans so will pull more air out of the case.Ransure wrote:Bought it, hope it does well.... loosing two power supplies in a year is shitty... but I do like the Sonanta case that its in!
It's got a bunch of connection thingies but comes will all sorts of color coded tie thingies so you can organize them. (don't know why you'd need to color code anything!)
You won't hear it. I couldn't hear it with my ear an inch away. Your HD, CPU fan or some other fan (graphics card) will be louder for sure.Ransure wrote:Its listed as quiet... any idea how it does against the TruePower Silent PS's?... its right next to my bed, so I definately dont want a lawnmower.
The PSU fans are also temperature controlled so that helps even more.
I had no problems with my Antec Truepower 380W that came with my Sonata. The Tagan is better (of course, won't really know for a year+ to test longevity but it even gives off the smell of quality...an aura of goodness...you almost want to grab the end of the cables and swing the Tagan 480u22 around your head as if you were wielding the mighty hammer of the Asgardian Thunder God Thor) but I can't complain about the Antec.
I bought the Sonata without a PS and put my own in.
I use Zalman PS's, currently a ZM400B-APS.

The rear fan in my Sonata crapped out after 18 months give or take, other than that I'm still pretty happy with it. Running 6 drives and an nvidia blow dryer on the original 380w PS, no problems as yet.
Couple other Antec cases and PSs around the house, no real issues with any of them.

Knock on wood I've had my Antec 430 running almost constantly for almost 3 years without a hiccup and I have a 350 in my wife's that has been running almost constantly for 5. No complaints here... Actually I've put Antec in almost all the PCs I've built an no complaints from any friends either.

I just sold my old computer system to a friend for dirt cheap. I sold it for $400.(the whole works with Sonata case, monitor, 6800GT, 3GB ram, Raptor drive, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc) Just enough to consider it a trade for a new Xbox 360.
The only thing I had to do, besides reformat the raptor drive, reinstall WinXP Pro, load it up with useful apps and new games, was buy a new case fan. You can get a temperature controlled 120mm fan for $10-15 (less at New Egg but shipping negates the internet advantage on a low cost item)
One note on the Sonata, the fan holes in the back aren't standard and use those plastic thingies. I had to use a hole punch to make the case holes a little larger in the back so I could screw in the new fan. You also can't use those rubber thingies unless you get a fan designed for them. Most fans won't accommodate them but do come with their own screws.

Installled tonight, damn, Im impressed... but it seems other things are going wrong... I think its time for a new vid card and memory.... the RAM I have was whatever was on $94 special from pricewatch.com 2 years ago... so its low latency PC3200.... was getting CMOS errors when I rebuilt tonight.
Also, my Radeon 9700, the trooper that its been, I think the fan is going on it... its been buggy since I got it, so I guess I can drop a few bucks on a new video card.... course that just delay's the new suspension for my car
