Need Help with some games

Post by Tyek »

Next month I am having knee surgery number 5!!!

This means I will be sitting around for 2-3 months without being able to put any weight on my leg, then another month or 2 with crutch support. As you can see I have a mot of free time coming up. I am looking for some ideas on games. I might have a beta account with a game that is mentioned on this board, but I have not logged in much and while I will spend some time with the game, (if I had a beta account, which I am not saying I do) I need other options.

Has anyone played the Movies much? is it a game that I could play for a while or does it lose interest fast? I probably will get Civilization, but any other ideas?

Not real big on the RPG's but otherwise I like most games.

Thanks in advance.

Going to again recommend Sniper Elite. Graphics aren't the greatest, but there's a decent story and the action/sneaking sequences are top knotch. I enjoyed it a lot.

If you've never played them, the Grand Theft Auto series are a lot of fun.

Gun was fun, but waaaaaaaaaay too short.

I recently played the Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory coop mode for the first time. You'll need someone to play it with you, but my buddy and I have been having a blast with that game + voice chat. Lots of fun.

Good luck with your surgery.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

Dude no! Once you start playing Guitar Hero, you uncontrollably move parts of your body which could hinder his knee recovery.

My suggestion is a longshot but the best one:

-Modify an Xbox with a chip (149.00 + 49.00)
-install a large HD into the Xbox
-network Xbox with your PC
-be sure you have a high speed connection to the net
-get an unlimited giganews account (24.99/month)
-purchase Newsleecher with Supersearch for 30.00/year
-bookmark metacritic.com website
-search the recent Xbox games for ones that appeal to you using Metacritic
-use Supersearch to easily find the games on the newsgroups
-download them like mad
-easily transfer them to your Xbox using Qwix and Avalaunch dashboard

You'll be highly entertained. I grabbed some xbox games a few days ago: (all could be grabbed one night while you sleep or in the background with a dual core!)

Chronicles of Narnia + the movie
King Kong + the movie
The Warriors
Need for Speed: Most Wanted
Far Cry: Instincts (reviews say it's better than the PC version due to some additions)
Kung Fu Chaos
Gun
Conker: Live and Reloaded

If you end up liking a game, send your wife to the store to buy the game to make yourself feel better.

Alternatively, you can skip the Xbox and follow the rest of the instructions and do the same for PC games (with the side bonus of having access to every current movie and application out there posted in the past 70 days in just minutes for sampling purposes). The reason I recommend Xbox is that you don't have to bother with patch cracks, etc. Every game works without modification. You're just reversing the process of trying before you buy as opposed to buying before you play. It's a moral issue! You might like one in ten games and the games that are actually good will get your money which will focus future development on better games instead of crappy ones. You'll want to buy the actual game for online play on Xbox Live anyway.

I played through The Movies tutorial. It was pretty fun but I haven't played it since. I'm not big on sims games though. Best sims game I've played though.

If you only take one piece of advice from this message, bookmark http://www.metacritic.com/ to find new Games (on all formats), Movies, Books and audio along with links to reviews.

If you happen to be playing a beta for a certain game (and I'm not saying you are) what name would you by chance be playing under? Perhaps we may send tells to each other at some point (if we were both in, which we are not).

perhaps it would be Tyekk, but that would only be if I was in the beta, which I am not saying I am.

If that's your dig, then definitely, without a question, pick up Rome: Total War. It's one of the most perfectly fun RTSs you'll ever see. 10,000 troops on screen is enough to make any computer guy get e-hard.

I know you mentioned it - but Civ IV has turned out to be awesome (at least for me) and WILL eat up a lot of your down time.

On the Epic length of the game (longest you can do) each game will take you over 12 hours, and if you are anal - closer to 24 hours to complete.

And that's just one type of scenario, one ruler, etc etc etc....

It runs on the GTA engine, and has some pretty solid fighting bits. The story's meh, the graphics are mega-meh, but it's a fun title overall. I wouldn't recommend buying it.

It's a GTA type game with a more interesting story IMO. If you liked the Warriors movie or like GTA games(it's by the same company Rockstar), you'll like the game. Better fighting than GTA along with being able to switch around playing various Warrior gang members and also issue commands to the gang for gang warfare tactics.

Have a crappy PC system and can't play the latest games? Here's some crappy games to download and play for free.

Hopefully you don't have a crappy bandwidth net connection or it will take a crapload of time to download them!
