Iraq Sniper Video

That has to be one of the most painful things i ever watched....

I hope to god thats not all just 1 shooter. i'd like to think we get most of the bastards that take these shots.

I saw JUBA in that video somewhere, and I've heard that name mentioned before in regards to snipers in Iraq. I think that was probably video footage from one guy. Rifle shots sounded the same, too -- although that's not like conclusive evidence or anything.

This "sniper" is nothing but a criminal. just because he targets armed peace keepers does not make him a "warrior". He travels by car, probably shoots through a hole in the trunk (like the DC sniper) and seems to have no problem firing around children. Did you notice the one soldier who squeezed of rounds when he was hit? those could have hit someone also.

I think this is a disgusting comment not because of any political statement, but trivializing this kind of death due to any reason is cold and heartless. If it was Iraqi insurgents getting gunned down by American soldiers, I would feel the same way.

Everything we see does not need to be used to present your view on politics at the time. I did not watch the video, but I know solders in Iraq and to think of one of them dieing in this way makes me sick. I do not need you turning it into a political statement. These "kids" signed up for military service Because they wanted to do this. We do not have compulsory military service in this country, it is 100% voluntary. therefore only volanteers go over seas. And i can Guarandanmtee you they were all EXCITED that they were gonna get to go.

You may not like Bush, I however hate Clinton for the way he adversly affected my life. his policies DIRECTLY affected my freedoms and ability to live the life I wanted to live. So I am glad the GOP is back in power. They havent undone the damage that of the previose office, but that just goes to show that the line is fading. Our parties are no longer looking out for us, and perhaps we should take action.

I think there's a lot of anger in this thread, but I also think a lot of it is misplaced. Miir has some points that are valid and legitimate. There is not in my opinion a reliable way to determine the country of origin of the shooters.

I also take exception to the statement that these kids, and for 100% certain they are kids, 'wanted to do this'. I'm sure when a lot of them enlisted, they wanted to defend their country and we should all respect and admire that sentiment. I seriously doubt that they wanted to be responsible for keeping the peace in Iraq and essentially standing around being sitting ducks. Any excitement about going over to Iraq is also gone. They accept it as their duty, and do their jobs to the best of their ability and as they were trained to do, there is anticipation, and anxiety. If that's what you meant by excitement you were right.

War is not pretty or fun, but sometimes it is necessary. That's point was hammered into me at an extremely young age. As much as I'm for capital punishment, doing whatever is necessary to get operational intelligence while in the field, and going after terrorists and terrorist organizations, I think the manner in which the war on terrorism has been conducted is appalling and I think our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines deserved a lot better.

Yes lots of anger, that video hurt me to the bone. I found it very fitting that the opening sound was an air raid siren and what can only be described as a nuke explosion. Nukes dont sound a little too extreme after watching that now.

If I was still of military age I would be there. And i would have been excited about it. I'm still contemplating going as a photographer. War is ugly and horrible, but you don't know that til you've been there.

My apologies to Miir for lashing out at him, But you trivialized this thing with your bid to bash Bush. other were also offended so it's not just me.

Without a doubt there have been some non-Iraqis involved in the insurgency, but I don't know how the media or the government could possibly say with any measure of accuracy that the majority are not Iraqis.... it's not like these guys are carrying around passports or ID cards.

Making these comments in reference to what that video is sure to hold is cold. It is heartless. You want to start a 900th thread on why the war was not justified. . .by all means do it. As many problems as I have with the war, I do know one soldier who was killed there and he had a family to support. When I see anyone die, I think of the person, not the conflict. Regardless of politics...these are still for the most part innocent human lives that are being extinguished. I am certain there is an enormous loss of life of innocent Iraqis because of this war. It is just shameful and horrid for any innocent person to lose their lives at the hands of a war machine.

The person doing this killing has no regard for human life. They have put their personal beliefs above that of a human life. This is evidenced by the shooting of people in near direct line of sight of innocent children and other bystanders. This has been evidenced by the suicide bombing of women and children.

Yes, I know we have killers and scum in our armed forces that are commiting criminal acts and doing some horrid things. I would like to believe...and I do believe this is the exception rather than the rule...by a longshot.

From a completely apolitical standpoint, this video truly shows the inhumanity of man against man. That is all.

I partially agree with Kyo on this one though. We have snipers doing the same thing to their "fighters". Sniping a legit "combatant" is legal warfare.

Very few things do but that just turns my stomach. I have family there right now and I have been one of those guys standing there looking around with an M-16 in my hand. Thats a type of scared I'm glad most of you will never know.
