Wireless Security - WPA2

Post by noel »

FYI, if any of you have recently purchased a wireless access point/router you might want to enable WPA2 security instead of WEP or WPA. If you're running XP, it requires the download of a hotfix that can be found on their website. All the information you need is here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/usin ... urity.mspx

The hotfix can be found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

FYI: A valid XP license is required to download the hotfix.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

What kind of client are you trying to connect to the airport?

Also, I'm curious why you think the Airport is the problem and not the client.

Edit: It would appear you need to be running at least firmware version 6.2 in order to get WPA2 working with the older AirPort Express Base Station. Not sure if that's your issue, but it's probably a good starting point.

the airport is a client unto itself of the wireless network, just to receive streaming music and output it to my stereo. I have a D-link router/AP. i think i have the latest firmeware, but i will doublecheck.

the apple documentation claims it works, i'm just not convinced it really does.

anyway, i'm mostly just venting!
