American Psycho worked better as a book because there is so much going on inside the head of the main character.
Fight Club was much better as a film, even Chuck thinks so. Perfect casting and the actually evolved and refined the characters from the book.
In closing: American Psycho, better book. Fight Club, better movie.

If how good they have it is measured by the size of their wallet, as you seem to infer it is, then yes, they have it "good." Who's to beleaguer somebody for having problems, despite being wealthy? It seems one-dimensional of you to not value their concerns simply because they have ample money.
To me, educated people are far more capable of adapting a nihilistic attitude than the uneducated. Am I wrong? Maybe!
I just don't think it's fair to spite money-bearing people for having problems.

it's just the notion of taking the social/economic class that by far has it the easiest in the west and turning them into a bunch of whining shit sacks who have to girl fight with each other in order to express their frustration with "the system"
movie should be called, spoiled white guys clearly miss the point club

I merely think that your argument makes it a point to say that money is the key to happiness. And if that's what you're saying, then I disagree. Rich people can still have problems.

Fight Club is about the drive to do something truly meaningful in life. It's about losing yourself in the bullshit distractions of modern life. It's about how easy it is to forget that it's our connection to and effect on other people that really give a life value, and not the contents of your wallet.

I don't know that I totally agree with you, but I do know that I think Kyoukan is totally wrong in her assessment of the movie. Perhaps I've been influenced by reading the book, but I feel like it's about a guy's journey into madness that was probably caused by his cubicle life, but that it isn't really celebrating it. I think it's more an exploration of a guy's twisted mind (that may have been caused by his cubicle life) than it is a statement of some advantaged person raging against the machine.masteen wrote:Fight Club is about the drive to do something truly meaningful in life. I could be quite wrong though.
