AMD64 / Socket 754

Post by Dal-KoE »

For those of you that thought you were screwed and would never be able to upgrade your video to the faster PCI Express because your motherboard only supports AGP. Here is one by ASUS that supports both PCI/E and will support that AMD(64) 3200, 3400, (Socket 754) cpu chip you already own.

The FSB is still not as fast as the newer Socket 939 boards but it does support Hyper Threading and you won't have to upgrade anything but the MoBo. This board does not support AGP and has no on board video...so have a video card ready to pop in when you upgrade.

I've been running that Asus mobo with an Athlon 64 3200 for about a year now. Great combo.
