I watched this movie on HBO last night and thought it was pretty good.

It's focuses on one Columbian woman who agrees, along with two other girls, to swallow drugs and deliver them to drug contacts in the United States. The movie is mostly subtitles which works well as it helps with the disorientation the girls feel when they arrive in the U.S.

The movie moves along at a casual pace even though there is constant danger for the girl. Of course, something goes wrong which intensifies the situation. From the amount of little packets they have after exiting the bathroom, it appears you can fit quite a few drug baloons in one person. You don't get to see the part in the bathroom!

Worth a look if you want a leisurely drama. The lead actress was nominated for an academy award this year.

If aan actress plays a prostitute, a Holocust victum, a mental, or shits drugs into a bag, she is automatically nominated for an Academy Award.

So an actress playing a drug smuggling prostitute in a concentration camp would be unbeatable.

They fired out the drugs into a tub after eating a handful of Exlax. Not showing that scene probably cost the lead actress an Oscar.

In my opinion, she deserved the nomination. It's a harsh fucking movie - leisurely drama? only if you judge your drama on the Schumacher scale, counting the # of explosions and helicopter chases.

There's nothing wrong with a leisurely drama. By that I mean it wasn't "jump out of your seat" intense, but held a steady intensity for the entire movie. I suppose in comparison would be all the machine guns and yelling in Midnight Express.

The story had a nice realistic feel to it. Maybe there's a better description for it than leisurely.

This was a good movie. If you liked it, I'd recommend Motorcycle Diaries as well. Another very good foreign movie.
