What would you sing?

No holds barred discussion. Someone train you and steal your rare spawn? Let everyone know all about it! (Not for the faint of heart!)

What would you sing?

Post by Lalanae »

At Fan Faire, Sylvos, Sirensa & I discussed what songs we would sing if we went to a karaoke bar. Sadly, we never made it, but I'm curious, if you could sing one song, what would it be? Try to stick with realistic choices and stay away from obscure songs which most probably would not be on a karaoke song list. I'll start:

Fernando by Abba
Lalanae
Burundi High Chancellor for Tourism, Sodomy and Pie
Unofficial Canadian, Forbidden Lover of Pie, Jesus-Hatin'' Sodomite, President of KFC (Kyoukan Fan Club), hawt, perververted, intellectual submissive with E.S.P (Extra Sexual Persuasion)

I'd rather just do a random song, it'd most likely be more fun and interesting. Altho if I could pick a set beat and then make up the vocals as I went along I'd have to say....

Fire & Ice - Forever Young

Anyway who know's me know's I keep the mixes in my car. Have over 500 homemade CD's lol

The theme to the Bodyguard by Whitney Houston. There's just something about singing that song that makes me feel pretty.

I must say I did really like that song. Whitney Houston does have a beautiful voice and everything just kinda went together. In the movie the setting was perfect and made everything click

The song you're referring to is called, "The Bad Touch".

I'd sing George Michael - Faith

or

Bust a Move - Young MC

Considering I already did Karaoke "Bust a Move" in front of about 3,000 people a few years back, it's not really a stretch.

Think "Pretty in Pink" by The Psychedelic Furs would be on a Karaoke list?...Maybe some Counting Crows they are relatively popish...:)..

I go to karaoke night at this one bar on a fairly regular basis, though I don't really sing. The only times I have ever gotten up there were to do backup vocals on Gin n' Juice by Snoop ("Laid back...") and "Wanted Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi ("Want-ed!").

For a solo performance (I haven't yet been the proper combination of completely trashed yet still coherent enough to read/sing to try a solo) I'd probably go with the song "Tequila" to get my feet wet, since I know all the words to that one. :P

I like to start out with something a little slow, like "Interstate Love Song" by the Stone Temple Pilots or "Riders on the Storm" by the Doors.
Depending on how my voice is feeling, I'll move on to "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" by Nirvana or "Sex Type Thing" by STP (again).
For my finale, I like a nice Buffet tune like "Margaritaville" or "Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw?"

Not that I go to karaoke night almost every week or anything :P

Depending on level of drunkenness:

"To all the girls I've loved before" with me singing both Willie Nelson and Julio Iglesias' voices

Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody"

or maybe umm...considering the setting...

Bowie's "I'm Afraid of Americans"

Hrm....anything I've ever tried to sing kareoke to, I've messed up horribly.

You've lost that loving feeling - Righteous brothers, ok ok, only because it was done in one of my favorite movies

Kiss Me - Sixpence none the richer

It's funny when you sing those, cause if you can make someone puke/laugh/run if you act like you're singing it to them!

2 of my friends at college always performed "I touch Myself" by Davinyls whenever we had our kareoke nights. It was entertaining...yet quite disturbing at the same time!

Well...The Sylvos Song Line up would go as follows:
1. Easy - The Commadores
2. I'm Still Standing- Elton John
3. Macho Man - The Village People.
4. Talk Dirty to Me - Poison
5. Yesterday - Paul McCartney
6. I Just Can't Get Enough - Depeche Mode
7. Stellar - Incubus
8. Chop Suey - System of a Down
9. Blood and Fire - Type O Negative
and last but not least ...
10. It's Raining Men - Geri Halliwell

why "It's Raining Men"? Simple - its fun, its easy and always a sure bet to get people rolling in their seats.
Oh and you always have to put the disclaimer
"Im not gay - I repeat I'm not gay"
But that is a standard line up for a Sylvos night of singing at the Kariokie bar, sometimes more glam or random 80's songs are thrown in like "Safety dance" etc...but you get the idea.
It's all about fun.
