I don't trust those fucks to control their bladders. I would also be against OUR government trying to "control" the Intarweb as well.

Bureaucracy cannot be counted on to do anything than add cost and reduce speed.

I opted for yes simply because there would be no control...

i prefer the idea of the US "controling" the internet only slighty to the UN for two reasons

1. i trust my government to have my interests in mindbarely  more than the UN.

2.
Governance over the net - the management of its addressing systems and traffic routing - has historically been the role of the US because it largely funded and pushed its early development.

If we are ever to be part of a global community we will be called on to relinquish control over certain things. I agree that we should not be holding back developing countries. Lord knows they have enough to hate us for already.

No thanks to UN control, last thing we need is the fucking French wanting all webpages to be in English and French.

The U.S. government already relinquished "control" of the internet to ICANN, a private non-profite corporation that has sole authority on matters concerning TLD's, address space etc. ICANN has an international membership and holds most of its meetings/seminars/conferences outside of the U.S. As far as I'm concerned, things are running smoothly, the U.S. government is not in control, there is international participation in the process, and I don't see how the U.N. would help.

no government should be in control.

the private sector is doing a damn good job if you asked me.
