if a "jackass" (player on veeshan since '99, sister-in-law of a semi-retired poster, and vv browser for a couple years now - yes I'm sure everyone's impressed ) could get some input from those of you that seem to have insight where others I know don't~
it's a random topic that you all may have already discussed, but a coworker was going on and on about this today and I wanted to get feedback from somewhere (and it's hard to do that sometimes with my friends on certain topics) ANYWAY~ I could just link random sites dealing with HAARP -- http://www.haarp.alaska.edu/ http://www.haarp.com/main.html (and they get even more interesting if you add "weather control" to the search) but really I just have a question: do you think that the military can control the weather? based on the information my coworker got on haarp he was totally convinced and telling me all sorts of stories (hurricanes, earthquakes) to back up the "fact" that the weather can be -and is- manipulated by man..
it seems possible to a point, with the technology haarp uses, but he made it seem like a big conspiracy..

In order for it to come to the point where controlling the weather would have a satisfying price / effectiveness ratio, we'd probably have to have 5 Ritas a day. Read a bit of it. Looks like traditional tinfoil hat stuff to me, although they mention several statements attributed to specific people at specific times and places, so you should be able to check those for accuracy and context if you feel the need. I dont need a tinfoil hat so I'm gonna ignore it, myself.

There was some research as late as the late '70's into manipulating weather...specifically seeding with silver iodide in attempts to seed ice crystals causing eyewall collapse/malformation...results were equivocal..

Basically it comes down to this: there is so much energy in hurricanes and tornados that to control them you would need a) to be able to apply that much energy to reroute them (a hurricane for example cycles the energy of a 100 megaton bomb detonated every 20 minutes) or b) to understand them well enough to know where to apply lesser energy to redirect their force

Simply put we can't even predict them reliably, we aren't close to the knowledge of how to control them.

Earthquakes the same...

If you want to look for a real conspiracy in all this who suggested the use of the phrase "hunker(ed) down" in reportage of Rita...It's all the rage...
