while I still do think the wording is pretty racist, note that the white couple is only carrying 1 loaf of bread and 1 thing of soda. While the other guy has 2 black garbage bags full of something.
But did the reporter actualy talk to any of them? Did the reporter see them exit the store? Maybe all three people in question are carrying possesions from their homes?

Heh, a soda and a loaf of bread vs a case of soda and bags full of loot.

You'll notice they're from two different sources.

The 'find' is from AFP/Getty. The 'loot' is from AP.

Chris Graythen wrote the caption for his photo of two hurricane survivors with bread and soda. "I believed in my opinion, that they did simply find them, and not 'looted' them in the definition of the word," he writes. "The people were swimming in chest deep water, and there were other people in the water, both white and black. I looked for the best picture. there were a million items floating in the water - we were right near a grocery store that had 5+ feet of water in it. it had no doors. the water was moving, and the stuff was floating away. These people were not ducking into a store and busting down windows to get electronics. They picked up bread and cokes that were floating in the water. They would have floated away anyhow."

Now, the whole attitude from certain posters here regarding NO has been so fucking pathetic so I don't really feel like posting much at the moment whilst they are being so gay.

But if you are looking for bread and water to stay alive then anyone who gives two flying fucks about labelling you a OMG LOOTER is a smug snug little fuckwit who needs a kick in the balls (preferably several).

Let's see how fucking loyal to the revenue of some random fuckin company (and as such how much a ranting hypocritical cumbucket you are) when it's your family your trying to keep alive.

There is a difference between that and raiding the local electronic store for your new PS2.

Wow, I agree with Nick. If people are taking food and basic supplies, go for it. If they are grabbing jewelry and electronics then they are scum, regardless of color.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

Which is beside the point. I'd be taking what was needed to survive too by all means. It's still funny. What we know the black person (guy? girl? I can't really tell) is carrying is a case of pop and a garbage bag full of something. Something that floats it appears. Possibly food? So food and drink, perhaps for a family?

The only opt out of it being labels thrown around is that yes, it was 2 different sources for the stories.

considering the situation there...when it comes to food/drink, if you can lay your hands on it with harming anyone else, go for it.

The picture is a mildy ironic, and somewhat funny musing on point of view. Some of you are taking it way too seriously. I prefer to think they all "confiscated" those items from a system that has more or less failed them in the past few days =p
