So I'm browsing the WoW boards in class (yeah, I'm bored), and I come across this:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/threa ... 128659&P=5
At first I shrug it off as skepticism, and the doubting that GM's would actually know this kind of information... but after reading the posts and thinking about our "random" drops, I wonder if there is any validity to this statement.
Have any of you had any steady stream of loots while getting the shaft on others?

If true, it would be idiotic...so I don't think it's true.
It may be partially true that some sort of ID attached to the raid leader's character is used to form the seed, but I'm sure there is some other random factor involved too (like time, or another rng).

It sounds extremely retarded but after looking at our loot records.... we have over 14 lawbringer breastplates, and only 2 might breastplates. Our ratio of cenarion to might is about 8:1 and our ratio of felheart to might is 7:1. 9 out of 10 times I start my raid group. Really makes you wonder.

It makes sense really I always thought there was something that wasn't quite random about random number generated used to determine what loot dropped. We used to run UBRS back in the day like 4x a day to get people keyed and with very little variation the same loot would drop on each run for that day. I always thought it had something to do with how they used the datetime function, but this actually makes a lot more sense if the common seed was the raid leader.

This was quoted from a guildie posting in our members forums a couple days ago.
Also, something I may even make a new thread about (since it's so far down) is that it has been confirmed by a GM that your raid's loot tables are affected by the initial raid leader! READ ON
Default petitioned a GM after getting a ton of the same drops from MC over the course of a month, asking what affects raid loot tables. (Obviously there must be some parameters, because no computer system is completely random) It turns out that the class of whomever starts the raid will play a significant part of determining the drops for that RAID ID.
Now we normally have 3-4 different people who start up our raids, so we don't run into this problem, but I thought it was interesting enough to point out!

I'm a warrior. Oddly, might never drops.
Edit: We do get a good deal of wrath legs from Ragnaros in combination with the standard stormrage/nemesis legs. Nemesis legs rot for us, and I think when our last Rag kill dropped two stormrage legs it finished out all the druids as well =/
