External Cd rewritable drive

My mom has an external cd drive for her computer, its just a straight up usb device. she was/is having problems with it so I took a look, everything is connected right, I installed nero suite on the machine, and that went fine.

When I try to burn a cd with it it immediately prompts me to put a blank cd rw in the drive (which is there). I checked all the settings on the drive and in the software and everything seems fine.

that is the link to the specific drive, the drivers are listed to the left, I downloaded the drivers then extracted the files, and there is no .exe file to install the new drivers with.

Just looking for some help here getting this figured out.

Try installing the drivers from control panel > system > hardware > device manager. It might list the drivers you downloaded.
