World of Evercraft...

Post by masteen »

In a page stolen right from the SOE playbook, Blizzard, after having their new "hard" raid zone mostly cleared 2 days after it goes live, adds a timer and DEATH TOUCH to the gatekeeper mob.

Death touch, I mean, just wow...

Since when does "the first two mobs" equate to "mostly cleared"?

To elaborate, after Blackwing Lair (BWL) was released, many guilds killed the first two encounters (Razorgore the Untamed and Vaelastrasz the Corrupted respectively) with relative ease. However, the gate behind Vaelastrasz that was supposed to open... did not. Apparently the guild Aeternus used Warlock summon exploits to get past the gate and killed at least the 3rd boss (Broodlord Lashlayer). The guild Fury, however, had their gate open somehow, while no one else's would, and they proceded to clear the entire zone barring Nefarian.

On the first day of release, Vaelestrasz wasn't using an ability called Burning Adrenaline, which basically sentences you to death after several seconds, at which point you explode. This ability was hotfixed before Fury even managed to clear through most of BWL though - the latest "fix" on Vaelastrasz was adding an 800 dmg per tic fire aura. The death sentence from Burning Adrenaline is hardly that bad as long as you dont have morons in your raid that won't run away when they get it. We took out Razoregore and Vaelastrasz before the most recent hotfix, but we're going to have a go at it again tonight since our instance ID was cleared.

Edit: I am of course assuming you're referring to Burning Adrenaline as the "Death Touch" since I know of no way around it (reduces your max hp by 5% until it reaches 0 and you're obviously dead). I haven't attempted the latest version so I'm not quite positive on every new aspect of the fight yet. The one hour timer fucking you on progression through the rest of the week seems like a rather lame ass way to "slow" progression though.

They got to Nefarion, who is the boss of this zone. Conflicting reports are coming on exactly how far they got him before he was despawned, but they definitely got TO him.

I'm under the impression they never actually engaged him in a fight. I saw a screenshot of Kalahad (their leader) standing next to Nefarian's human form (Victor Nefarius) on his throne. He was green (as in friendly target), but that's all I noticed.

Personally I think it's fucking bullshit that they tell all other guilds that being found anywhere beyond Vaelastrasz's gate is considering exploiting punishable by suspensions and/or bannings when a goddamn GM lets Fury run rampant through the zone with absolutely zero repercussions.

Whatever.

Apparently, it wasn't working as intended before. Now that they got the bugs ironed out, it's not really DT-like at all.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. As far as I know Burning Adrenaline still reduces your maximum hitpoints by a certain interval (20% every 2 seconds until you die at 10 seconds?) as it always has. What Tigole said was unintended was the fact that it had been targeting people high on the threat list, ie tanks, far more often than intended. Now it's supposedly completely random. I don't see how that makes it any less of a DT. Unless something else changed (we've been able to kill all of the previous Razorgore incarnations, but 1.6.1 has us at a bit of a standstill~), if you get hit by it, you're going to die.

That doesn't sound quite like a DT...DT's were more fun! It was a great way to initiate people who were trying to apply to join your guild!

Well, it's more of a Death Sentence.

I'd say it's more along the lines of Razorgore 3.1588376b =/

Nice work though~

wow so much incorrect information

there is no death touch, broodlord lashslayer's mortal strike was bugged and doing insane damage.

fury's gate opened legitimately, a gm didn't open it. they didn't have nefarion despawned, he just whipped their fucking asses.

Well, my information about Fury was straight from them on the Raid forums, but then again, you can't really trust much from them...

However,

Looks like he's talking about Vaelastrasz to me, not Lashlayer. Lashlayer's MS bug was fixed pretty quickly. It was all Mortal Strikes anyways, not just Lashlayers. The fucking Captains in UBRS were MSing for 4500+.

Burning Adrenaline is a death sentence basically, which is why he may have been referring to it as a "DT".
