I WON TICKETS TO DISTURBED!

OMG ok i know most of u hate my guys but today was awsome. It was 5 o'clock and the local rock radio station has a concert annoucment. I was like ok, turns out Disturbed will be on tour near my town. Then i hear the DJ say, "we will now give caller 10 "win them before u can buy them" tickets for the concert" as the DJ rambles on i meander over to the phone and pick it up. I dial the number so i can put it on re-dial. So i randomly re-dial, get 2-3 busy signals, re-dial again and get a pause for about 15 seconds and then it rings. At this point im thinking, "somebody won or im not gonna win," Then i hear a fimiliar voice of the DJ saying "hello the Edge." Im so surprised and the 1st thing that comes out of my mouth is " WHAT CALLER AM I!!!!" and i get "what caller would you like to be?" Im close to a nervous break down and would love to choke the DJ through the phone. But im thinking, they usually ask that when you win, so i gather all the courage i have and say "I would love to be caller 10" and the DJ is like 'well jump up and down ur going to disturbed" I am about speechless at this point, i never win anything, and im shaking and basically freaking out. The DJ takes my info and says they'll call me when my tickets come in. Im just really happy at this moment, i never win anything and this is so surreal, ive never been to a big concert like this, never seen a mosh pit or anything among the lines of a heavy-metal concert. Any suggestions on how to prepare myself for this.

not to prepare, i mean im a skinny white kid, i would get eatten alive in the mosh im just nervous/afraid, ive never been to a metal concert before

Don't get all nervous - you'll have a blast.

My suggestion - stay away from the mosh (no idea where the seats are you got) and just sit back and enjoy the show (both watching the crowd and the band).

thanks, i won tickets so im guessing fairly close if not front row.. i hope this is an expeirence for me that will last a life time

Just hang out, have a good time. If you aren't familiar with the artist pick up their latest CD.

Don't sing along. Don't stare at the freaks.

If you can't stand the heat stay out of the pit. Nobody cares if you weren't in the mosh pit...however some of the best times I have ever had at shows were in the pit. The fuckers down there can smell fear and will hurt you if you aren't careful. Generally arena security will not come to the aid of someone in the pit.

You may want to wear earplugs, after going to many many metal shows I have permanent hearing loss.

Wear a humorous shirt, or best an old/vintage shirt from a well regarded band in that genre. Don't go buy a fucking shirt from Hot Topic though, they have no credibility. I have a beat, torn, old (circa 1985) Motörhead shirt I wear to all the metal shows I go to. Beat to fuck Levis and oily work boots or beat up old Army boots work well too.

Don't be a fucking poser or you'll get your ass kicked.

Oh, if you're in the cattle line to get into or out of the arena, in the beer line, waiting to have a piss, etc. and someone gives you shit/is trashed/acts like an asshole to you, be cool. Some drunk motherfucker you never met before isn't worth getting tossed out or arrested over.

quite honestly my friends and i always made it a point to beat the fuck out of (by moshing of course) any 15 year old or younger that was anywhere in the area of the mosh pit. and furthermore you won't get seats at a disturbed concert, first come first serve as far as that goes, so your best bet is to stay in the upper level (if they have one) or off to the sides far away from the pit. and yes, if you do stray off to the side near the speakers, please wear protection, if not, your ears will ring for roughly 4 days straight.

I'm 6'1" white, and I weigh 145lbs. I did fine at a Manson concert which tops any kind of pit Disturbed will pull off so you should manage if you keep your head on straight. Oh, and unless you already do drugs/drink, don't bother before this show...you'll probably freak out and get caught or make a compete ass of yourself. Also, at almost any show if you get knocked over in the pit at least one person will try to help you get back up. Plus, pits are why you go to high-energy concert. I paid an extra $60 to get pre-release NIN tickets to make sure I was on the floor, and to boot I don't need to wait in line with the public. I plan on going front center and camping out through both opening bands.

Empty your fucking pockets of cell phones, keys, or anything fragile or sharp. Make sure your wallet is buttoned down in a pocket. In the pit and you're light weight there's a decent chance you will be upsidedown at some point. Also, try to position yourself behind a girl before the band comes out. This avoids the always awkward/buzzkill realization of, "shit, my junk is being smashed into this dude's ass because the pit of surging forward..."

Hydrate before the show; you *will* get thirsty in a pit. Also, if you see an open area in the middle of the pit stay the fuck away from it. That's normally where the goons run in circles and beat the shit out of themselve, each other, and anyone dumb enough to get within 4 feet of them. Buy some earplugs, get a souvenier, and have fun.

The pit at Disturbed imo should be far more vicious than that at Manson (teehee) or NIN shows. Did Disturbed do that "let the bodies hit the floor" tune?

Go to a Slayer concert to see a fucking ferocious pit experience.

Disturbed pits aren't too bad.. Slayer is unfuckingreal.. You go down they wont help you up they'll drop a fucking elbow on you..

If you're a skinny white kid you can survive in the pit.. just dont go for the big fat motherfuckers.. and dont worry about falling down.. most people are considerate and will pick you up and throw you to the side so you can regain your senses.. Except for Slayer of course..

Having seen Disturbed, Slipknot, Slayer..... I would definately agree that Disturbed is pretty tame, even their 'hard' album was a tame concert (saw it twice).

Now if you have the chanve to see Nirvana, those where intense concerts IMO

*UPDATE*

Went to the concert last night it was fucking awsome.... 10years was great, but you couldnt really hear Ill Nino, Disturbed played and 1 hit after another... my ears are still ringing damn!
