DVI vs VGA inputs
Which connector should you use? New monitor has both DVI VGA ports and so does my video card.

anybody have any thoughts on 'discount brand' LCDs. This monitor on Newegg gets 5 eggs and is $250 for 19" LCD. i am pulling the trigger on it.

DVI in also...seems like a no-brainer...

Seems OK but I'm so used to the higher resolutions. Not sure I could deal with 1024X1024. A 1600X1200 20" LCD over at Dell would probably cost you a few hundred more though.Voronwë wrote:anybody have any thoughts on 'discount brand' LCDs. That's the one I bought, it's pretty nice for the price IMO. No dead pixels, color is good, saved me about 2 sqft of desk space.
I wouldn't really want a monitor larger than that, I don't watch movies on it or anything. The 21" Sun monitors make my neck hurt at the end of the day.
I've read a bit about DVI, consensus seems to be it's better in theory, in practice you don't see any change.

For mail order LCD's I'll only buy from Dell as they have a 100% satisfaction return policy so one dead pixel gets you a new monitor if you want. They also will ship the new monitor to you before you have to ship the original back so you can compare the two and keep the best one.
With the chance of dead pixels always there, this is a huge benefit that Dell offers over the competition...plus they have the best quality, lowest cost 20 and 24" monitors atm.
