Canon PowerShot A510 Digital Camera

Post by Canelek »

I just picked up this little gizmo at Best Buy this afternoon for $179.00. After messing around with it a bit, I am very impressed with the quality and ease of use. Being my first digital camera, I think I made a pretty solid choice, given the price and features.

4X Optical Zoom, 3.2 MP, can add other lenses, flashbulb...has built in flash, 9 environment settings, 1.8" display, yadda yadda, direct print, macro setting, blah blah, etc etc.

The tech at the store recommended this camera over the slightly more expensive Sony models of the ~ same make. Apparently, this is the streamlined answer to the previous Canon A85 model, being that it is a tad lighter and smaller. Either way, I thought the price was pretty darn good so I snapped it up.

Anyone else have one of these and enjoy it? I have yet to mess around with all of the features, but I figure I will get my chance when I am in NY for training starting Monday.

No more disposible cameras for me! woohoo!

My Powershot A95 makes me very happy and produces excellent shots, as have all the Canon digital cams I have used.

Canon digital cameras are top shelf. I have a Powershot S500 and I love it. This is the third Canon I've owned and I wouldn't consider any other brands.

Add another satisfied Canon customer.

Powershot S200 Digital Elf

It's outdated in megapixels now but still rocks and is tiny. (same one I used at the Fan Faire)

Just got a 350D myself (but in black). <3 Canon.

Mainly because I wanted to get into photography and not just take snapshots here and there. Still learning!

However, if I were getting a point& shoot I'd probably have gotten something like the PowerShot S2 IS.

Working on it! Like I said, just starting out. Still working on the technical side of things. Then I can focus on the creative aspect. So at the moment my pictures aren't all that great. Had a few that I liked but most of those have focus issues. Argh.

i got the powershot A75 last year, and i like it. Replaced my late 70s Canon A1. My only complaint is the latency between shots. I obviously understand that at a lower price poitn like the A75, that doesnt really happen.

But that is still a major problem with normal consumer level digital cameras - instant, and i mean instant image acquisition, and the ability to take another shot within a split second.

sure you say, wtf dude are you taking pictures for the cover of SI? no i am trying to take pictures of a toddler! THEY MOVE FAST!! :p

Currently have a SD400. Takes great pictures but it's a bit too small for my tastes.

My next camera is going to be a Rebel XT. I miss having a SLR.

Have heard complaints about the XT being a bit small for some people. If you haven't already may want to check it out at Best Buy or somewhere first! It seems about right to me. Can always buy the battery grip and make it larger.
