do not see this movie. it is all that is shit. i repeat, DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE. it is boring, dull, fucking retarded (especially the end), and not scary at all. i was actually sitting in the theater wondering how the fuck they could actually make this movie.

Isn't this another one of those Japanese "horror" remakes like Ring and Grudge? Those all sucked. :)

The only good thing I can say about it is it had a well done eerie atmosphere. I mean that island and apartment building was really creepy, it's too bad absolutely nothing scary happens there. And you can always tell when something midly scary or startling is about to happen, thus taking away the suprise of any scares.

Also, the little girl with her drawings and imaginary friend is the exact same as the ring. Imo it's not the remakes that are bad, its the originals rehashing the same shit in each movie. From The Ring to Ju-On to The Eye to Dark Water, they are all way too similar.

Oooh aaahhh, haunted places with eerie children and lost or vengeful spirits. How about something different from this acclaimed "horror" director.

Exacty what I am talking about. The original Japanese versions of the aforementioned movies are just as droll and lackluster as their American counterparts.

That said, they make money here and bolster overseas revenue. It is a win-win for american and foreign film industries obviously, but don't expect too much as far as originality or original horror! :D
