I had a laptop for a time in EQ and on many occasions I thought that was happening. The little memory module holder dealy ma bobber got so hot it was untolerable. Thank god, my manhood is still fully functional today ><

Does this only happen on older laptops? Or does it happen on new ones too?

Actually the 512MB RAM chips for laptops, especially the DDR ones, are notorious for running hot. This is one of the reasons why laptop manufacturers haven't started building 512MB right onto their boards.
