Disrespect the Quran and see the outrage.
Burn the flag for the Rainbow Alliance and see what happens.
Disrespect/Burn the US flag... and people just shrug.

WTF is up with that.

BTW, I don't agree with them trying to push this amendment.

It's fine to be upset if someone burns a flag, or flushed the Koran or whatever. But LEGISLATING against it is what facist and theocratic societies do.

it shouldn't be law and it shouldn't be what congress is spending time on.

the fucking country is hurting.. and churning out poverty.

the technology sector is bleeding jobs.. I feel horrible for anyone outside of the top 5 cities coming out of college now with a computer science degree... slim fucking pickings in the paper these days. i'd still be unemployed if my background didn't make me a 10-key machine. yeah, it's that bad.

don't raise the working wage or anything though guys, really, just try and make it illegal for me to do more harmless shit.... /bong

..

REVOLUTION?

I think you answered your own question.

There are no constitutional amendments pending that would outlaw disrespecting the Quran or burning the flag of the Rainbow Alliance. There is a constitutional amendment pending that would outlaw burning the US flag.

I would be equally opposed to all three. Because only one of them in actuality exists, I can only be opposed to that one.

There is a ceremony, and the flag is folded and incinerated in a pyre.

I wish I was joking.

In a pyre, like a fucking viking.

Canada
Disposal of Flags

When a flag becomes tattered and is no longer in a suitable condition for use, it should be destroyed in a dignified way by burning it privately.

United States
HOW TO DISPOSE OF WORN FLAGS

The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning in private or as part of a ceremony conducted by a veterans organization.

Seems pretty similar to me... I don't see the "or as part of a ceremony conducted by a veterans organization. " as wacko.

I just grabbed these URLs at Random from Google.

Also - I'm against the legislation. I think flag burners just make themselves look like idiots.

So, what if you get an old, tattered, faded, beat up flag and burn it in public and say that you were just disposing of it in the traditionally recognized manner?
Because you obviously do not know the correct method.

It isn't just burning it whole, and anyone who knows the proper method would easily be able to tell the difference.
According to US Code Title 4, Chapter 1, Paragraph 8, sub-paragraph (k):

"The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning."

But you're saying that there is a super secret squirrel club method that only certain people are privy to, and the rest of us are just idiots? Can you enlightem us, or is it so secret that you are barred from discussing it in public?
This is the proper method of disposing of a worn out US flag:

http://www.phoenix.med.va.gov/images/im ... 03_nrl.doc

It is the procedure we used in the military, and isn't part of some 'super secret squirrel club' method, it's just that most people don't really think about it and just pitch the flag into the nearest trash can these days.

On Wednesday night August 27th, most of the flags will be prepared for the ceremony by using a long-time flag retirement tradition of separating the stripes from the stars in a proper fashion. This means separating the red stripes, from the white strips and the field of stars. The retirement ceremony will include the burning of the flags with first the red stripes, then the white stripes and then the field of stars. Phoenix Fire Station Number 9’s B shift will assist the VA with the flag retirement burning on Friday September 5th
