Toy Story 3!

Post by Nick »

Ok since we are all more than the sum of our political beliefs (which sometimes is forgotten) a slightly more light hearted topic is needed from me.

I really <3'ed Toy Story, and liked Toy Story 2 even though it was nowhere near as good.

Now this is no serious film or seriously epic series but it's a good one for kids and adults alike. I was only about 10ish from memory when the first one came out (maybe I was 12/13? not even sure) and it was amazing. Of course at this time there was no Shrek, No Finding Nemo etc but it was the groundbreaking film in the genre it invented.

Now apparantly unless Pixar and Disney can strike a deal together it will be the first Toy Story done without Pixar, which imo would be a huge fucking shame.
Apparantly, there have been discussions that they may regroup and work on this.

As such, I am waiting to see whether they massively fuck it up or make it fantastic. Hopefully it will be better than 2, since the bar has been so dramatically raised after films such as Finding Nemo.

I just saw this on Yahoo so thought I may as well post it since I am bored. I am not a massive fanboy of Toy Story apart from that it's sorta cute funny.

I actually enjoyed Toy Story 2 quite a bit. The collector angle was a pretty decent idea. And believe me, Disney doesn't normally put a sequel in the theaters unless it can stand on its own. Most all are straight to video because there's no chance it could garner box office.

Hopefully Toy Story 3 can continue the trend. Maybe I'll apply for some voice over work

there's a chance Pixar won't be doing the third?... uhh, theres going to be quite a difference between them, far greater than changing an actor.

Not really the right thread, but I didn't feel like starting another. Why exactly did everyone like Finding Nemo? Perhaps it was because I was really drunk when I watched it, but I didn't find it that funny. I laughed a lot more in other animated movies than this one. However, I guess since almost everyone I've met/talked to about this movie swear by it... I'll watch it again sober. I also didn't find Monsters Inc that funny either. I think the last animated movie I laughed a lot at was Lilo and Stitch.

Not all the animated Pixar films are about comedy. Theyre main focus is to tug at the heartstrings. The dad struggling to find and free his lost son. The little girl in Monsters Inc. Toy Story is all about the friendship and loyalty between toys and their owners. There are some good laughs in those movies, but the main focus is the emotional angle.

BTW, The Incredibles is the best of the Pixar movies.

Pixar doesn't need Disney anymore. They have made enough to handle their own projects and they have a well established name. All Disney did was distribute the film and leech most of the profits. Pixar will do better without them. Eisner was the stupidest guy in the world for not making a deal to keep the partnership going.

I agree Deward.

I also thought Monsters Inc was instantly forgettable however.
