Ok so everyone remembers how Bush was going to hunt Bin Laden no matter where he went on the Earth and how committed he allegedly was after you watched those people jumping 1000 feet out of burning buildings?
This is the reality of how little the man gives a shit about the lost lives of that day.
He is prepared to guarantee Halliburton many billions of dollars in lucrative contracts whilst alienating your country from the rest of the world, but when it comes down to catching the guy responsible for the worst atrocity on US soil in the last 100 years then your government will tiptoe around the diplomacy (nice double standard, makes you wonder where their interests really lie).
Yeah, real fucking committed to the cause. This makes me sick. I want Bin Laden captured as much as you do, if you can't see the raging hypocrisy here, then nothing will help you.
NEW YORK - The director of the CIA says he has an "excellent idea" where Osama bin Laden is hiding, but that the United States' respect for sovereign nations makes it more difficult to capture the al-Qaida chief.
In an interview with Time for the magazine's June 27 issue, Porter Goss was asked about the progress of the hunt for bin Laden.
"When you go to the question of dealing with sanctuaries in sovereign states, you're dealing with a problem of our sense of international obligation, fair play," Goss said. "We have to find a way to work in a conventional world in unconventional ways."
well it is potentially more complicated than saying "he's in Pakistan"
now people think he is in Pakistan, and have thought as much for the last 3+ years. Particularly in Waziristan (sp) which is a region the Pakistani army does not patrol or control, as it is controlled by tribal groups.
I am sure Musharef could do more to help us, but he's had a couple of attempts on his life as it is, hehe. I think there is probably a lot of resistance within Pakistan to give Bin Laden to us.
However, it was George Bush who proclaimed "you are either with us or you are against us"
It does bring into question, is Bin Laden really the administration's top priority?
edit: just saw an interesting report from the Pakistani/Afghan border from Barbara Starr (CNN Pentagon correspondant) talking about the daily fighting that goes on between US troops and fragments of the Talliban/Al Qaeda/sympathetic fighters.

Nick, while I see the hypocracy here I do not understand your making this a point of contention. Instead of applauding the US's decision in this case you are implying that they should not be so contradictory in their foreign policies and go blow the living shit out of another country in order to catch bin laden?
On one hand you deplore the US governments current policies and now when they show a different approach you call them on that too.
Perhaps you should do a check and see if you just hate all things American.
just a thought

If an injury has to be done to a man it should be so severe that his vengeance need not be feared.

No he is saying that if we did it to someone who wasn't guilty for crimes against our nation why won't we do it for someone who is? I don't think he is agreeing with the invasion of Iraq for no other reason than greed but that's a hell of a lot worse than sending a special forces unit into Pak to get a guy that actually did kill US civilians... No it's not necessarily right in either case but morally going after Bin Ladin is much more feasable and something that might be "forgiven."
I wasn't necessarily against the conflict in Afghanistan. I did however realise the history of Afghanistan and a large amount of US culpability for the state of that region. It is hardly hypocritical to call out a blatant lie (such as - we will hunt him until he is brought to justice)
Iraq has little to do with the real war on Terror Cart, in case you hadn't noticed. It's called a smokescreen, to make you feel you can sleep better in your bed at night.
At the end of the day, if Bush was committed to enacting vengeance in the proper places he could get Bin Laden. It is therefore obvious that that is not his top priority.
Also, who said go blow the living shit out another country? Aren't you being a little trigger happy?
I find it hard to believe the US cannot push Pakistan further, given how Musharaf is such a blatant whore to Bush.
Personally it's fairly obvious (if you have read 1984 for example) to understand the concept that a never ending war with an evil figurehead at the top (that never gets caught) is good for keeping the masses quiet and safely consuming the shit you feed them.
Pakistan has nukes. We have to be more careful around them. Those bastards might start a war if we steamrolled them looking for Osama and then India might join in the fun which, if not for the oil issue, would be a positive as hopefully some of the fallout would spread over China and cause them some headaches.
It's the god damned oil. If not for that, we could let these assholes blow themselves to smithereens and condemn it with strongly worded letters like the UN does. (read: do nothing useful to stop it)
When are you people going to understand that it's the U.S.' need for oil that is preventing the Middle East from destroying itself?
There is no peaceful solution. A middle east country could take over the planet and they'd still be unhappy. They love killing each other. They wipe their asses with their hands for fuck's sake! I love my toilet paper. I'll fight for freedom until my last dying breath so I don't have to wipe my ass with my hand!
Musharaf is a pragmatist. He wouldn't start a war with the US for any reason. There's no point going into those mountains looking for bin Laden though, the americans would just get their asses beat by the locals who've been living there for a thousand years and they'd never fucking find anything. Unless you can win over the locals you are never going to flush bin Laden out. And, wow, you are never going to win over the locals if you keep invading middle eastern countries and stealing their wealth. I know, it's totally shocking!

Yeah that oil is flowing freely now, are you really that dumb?

Actually there is plenty of oil, it's the ability to refine it that's at issue right now, a few weeks back we were at record highs on unrefined oil sitting out of the ground... with the Saudii's upping their quota by 50k barrels I imigine that hasn't changed. It's not the oil, it's that it's all still Crude
