They don't state it here but I have to believe that part of the issue with some of the new cases, from other articles I've read, is the fact that kids aren't being taught about condoms anymore...
Chalk up another plus for the current administration!

Do you really think that the administration's condomless education policies have had time to make a real impact on sexual behavior?
There's only a four year group of kids who have been educated under this administration. Some of them are probably not yet sexually active, especially in a manner which would expose them to HIV. It seems to me that the proportion of the sexually active population that has been educated under the Bush administration is quite low.
My final year in high school was under the Bush adminstration, and my peer group is quite aware of the facts regarding both condoms and HIV. I'm the oldest of the group that received some high school education under Bush, and I would imagine that younger people have had less sexual experience and less exposure to disease, simply due to the fact that one year of sexual activity is a big increase in experience when you're 21.
It would be interesting if we had empirical numbers on HIV cases by age. If, among the roughly 17-23 age groups, HIV cases become more common as age decreases, that would be quite strong evidence that Bush's sex ed is having a negative impact on the youth. The reverse wouldn't prove anything. It'd be interesting to see.

I don't doubt that condomless education is having a negative impact on teen pregnancy, but I'm hard-pressed to believe that it could cause this sort of impact on HIV so quickly.
Most sexually active high schoolers are having sex with other high schoolers. Not that it can't be done, but it's much easier to pick up an STD once you're old enough to go pick up barsluts or get involved in gay bareback orgies or shoot heroin. High schoolers certainly do get involved in that sort of thing on occasion, but they're much more likely to be two virgins having a fumbling sexual experience or a girl dropping her panties on prom night or whatever. High schoolers aren't innocent, but they're a hell of a lot more innocent than adults, condoms or no.
Four years ago, if I had sex with a peer without a condom, I would be worried about getting her pregnant and that's about it.
Now if I had sex with a peer without a condom, I would be worried about diseases and parasites and pregnancy.
Obviously these expectations are not entirely realistic or representative, but I really think that most sexually active teenagers do not have a high risk of contracting HIV, condoms or no.
Now, when those teenagers grow up and start engaging in condomless high-risk sex, that will be a problem. And I'm sure that a population with a high rate of condomless sex will have more HIV cases than that same population with a low rate of condomless sex. I just can't bring myself to blame this one on Bush's sex ed.

They did a bit covering this on NPR, they believe much of it is due to (otherwise heterosexual) released prison inmates bringing it home from HIV\AIDS positive, untested, unsegregated prison populations. The CDC also warned those demographics may soon change because heterosexual blacks, women and others infected after having high-risk sex now account for a larger proportion of those living with HIV than those who are living with full-blown AIDS.
Girlfreinds, wives, etc.. then spread it among the hetero population from there.

I also concur that this is a bunch of shit. By the time kids are having sex, they know goddamn well what a condom is and does. They also know that sex can lead to pregnancy and know about std's.
I learned all of this and more in fucking 7th grade, and they are still teaching this class in our school district, and I have to imagine this isn't an uncommon class for kids to take.
Bush has absolutely nothing to do with any of this. Its the parents job if anyone..

I know now how stupid I was growing up when it came to safe sex. I got lucky (no pun intended) and the worst thing I ever had happen was a case of the Crabs (YUCK!). I knew about and had access to condoms from the first time as my mom educated me about them, and I felt comfortable enough that I was not afraid to ask for them. The thing that kept us from using them was basically that we felt that at our age, the chance of either of us having an STD was almost nil. Now I know that is not the truth. I know of friends who were not so lucky, and even at the age of 30, I still get tested regularly just in case something decides to show up as a suprise.
PS The current administration had nothing to do with my education (which was non-existent in schools at the time).

My point is that it may or may not, as I said they don't state it in this study but I don't think anyone can argue that abstance only education will help curb the AIDS epidemic? well I guess they CAN if they really think people aren't still having sex but obviously the teen pregnancy rates disprove that (especially in TX) so we are back to my original statment...
It may not be making a difference now... but it will...

I don't think public school education or its lack are going to have an impact on the population segment that's currently driving the new increase. That's not to say we shouldn't be teaching it, though I think it's the parents responsibility.
Keep them from starting a drug centered life and out of prison and you'll make a good start. A condom awareness\education drive targeting them, much like that done with gays in the early 90s would help too.
"It can't happen to me" is a huge part of these peoples mindset. As partially shown by their suprise and anger when sent to jail for a crime they admit to. That 6 month stint they're sent to camp for can easily turn into a death sentence for them and everyone they return to when released.

i think the teens in your slutty little country should learn to keep their fuckin pants on once in a while. as bill hicks said, "can you slow down on your rutting for one fuckin second till we figure out this food/air deal??"
the best way to avoid stds is by having the decency not to let any tom dick or harry into your trousers.

I know I'm prolly very off base here. But would HIV/AIDS be killed off, if every carrier was dead? I personally think its just mother nature killing off our overpopulation, but at a slow rate.As soon AIDS/HIV is gone, Im sure there will be another "Uncureable" disease or virus.
I do personally think it is a epidemic, and if it is not quarantined it will only effect more and more of the worlds population. Its either though people being careless, witchdoctors, or spreading it on purpose, or born with it though the mother, or even rape. I'd hate to say it, but its either them or us. I'm sure a lot of you are more willing to look out for #1 than some person in the hills of some country.
But when it comes down to it, 1 person vs 1000+. What one would you save first?

Fortunately, the CIA engineered the AIDS to only work on faggots and darkies, so most of us have nothing to fear. Continue barebacking my white brothers!

well I guess that's a little less embarassing than me picturing you with your pudgy little arms stretched around your huge gut, sweating and pounding away furiously on the keyboard while you take out your impotent little frustrations you've experienced with all women on an internet forum.
nice job on using less boring, cartalas level sexual euphemisms this time around though.
