Familiar with Best Buy's Software pre-orders?

Post by Boogahz »

I recently found a receipt from a game I pre-ordered last September and never purchased (mainly because I was cheap and couldn't find the receipt). Does anyone know if they limit how long you have to actually purchase the game? I never pre-ordered anything until that game, and am unclear on how it works. Is it basically the first $10.00 towards the purchase price that you are paying with that pre-order amount, or is it just a $10.00 "holding" fee?

Which game was it?

Also, I believe that if you pre-order and still have the recepit, they are forced to make with the goods or refund your 10$ back(you may havta settle for store credit for the 10$ though).

It was for EQ2. I was playing WoW at the time and never picked up EQ2.

EQ2 software costs 19.95 right now. Back when you preordered it was probably 49.99. You can pick up EQ2 for 10.00!

I think I saw the original EQ for 5.99 at Fry's today.

Says nothing specific about your case which usually comes down to a manager's decision. With a valid receipt, they should refund your money via store credit....Your demeanor has a lot to do with [glow=green]their[/glow] decision so smile, be polite and pleasant and your good to go.

They will probably either sell your old preorder or send it back to the company. This is my experience with game stop, but best buy might be similar.
