The amounts of attacks in Iraq (and Baghdad) is increasing btw. You do not have a strong grip on it. Not as horrible as in Afghanistan though where you don't control anything outside of a couple of cities.

The thing is this. We are scared and angry at what is happening to this country. The dollar is falling vs other currencies, we are incurring massive debts, our image in the world sucks, our schools are getting worse, our social programs are being cut, our safety is decreasing, and a certain group of folks are legislating morality in a way that is inhibiting freedoms and science and goes against the separation of church and state.

So I hope you understand why many of us could be pissed and lashing out.

As far as this case goes, I can't see being happy about either outcome, sorry. What he did went a bit too far, but to say it was or wasn't self-defense..

If the Israel and Palestine conflict of over 30 years could be summed up as easily as you just pigeon-holed it, then yes I would agree. However, one must be smart enough to realize that you cannot sum up something as multi-faceted as a 30+ year conflict so simply. I'm sure the Palestines aren't as innocent as you paint them to be and I'm also sure that they aren't as evil as the Israelis paint them to be. You cannot make such hard stances unless you know all the facts. You don't. I would venture to say even someone who has spent their life solely dedicated to the study of that conflict, still doesn't know all the facts.

Interestingly enough, not one of you has ever proffered a solution to the mess that is the Middle East. I am all for us leaving it entirely and watching it blow up in a week. Then it will just be a race between the rest of the countries in the world to go in and claim the oil fields. The nuclear fallout might pose some issues though.
