Suggestion on where to go...

Post by Kelfain »

Hello all,
I'm pretty new to Everquest, having only have played about a week. My first character is a Half-Elf Ranger whom I started in Kelethin. I have risen to level 20 hunting orcs in Crushbone and now I find that almost none of the monsters in the zone are giving me experience, so its time to move on. I play EQ with a friend of mine and his sister, often networked together in his home. We are all around level 20, with my friend a Rogue and his sister a Druid. I was wondering if some of the more experienced players could suggest some places we could go that are appropriate to our level and that may have interesting quests and items for our classes. I have read a few guides from the internet but I wanted to hear from players on the server we play on. My thanks to anyone who takes the time to respond.

Welcome to the boards JACKASS!

Standard greeting for new folk.

I say travel the world! Go to Permafrost. Learn the zones along the way so you never ever have to beg for a port unless you are desperate.

once you hit 25ish with all three of you, you might try the Zone in to Dalnir.. typically an empty dungeon.. AWESOME xp for the level.. fighting near the zone is relatively safe..

stay in dungeons as much as you can.. best xp.. best loot typically. if you can avoid LOIO -> OT -> DL -> Karnors -> Sebilis by all means do so..

-Ajran

oh and sorry but it has to be done..

http://www.interealms.com/ranger/ should get you to the Ranger's Glade.

Kelfain is the THREE HUNDREDTH registered user... and so, he get's an especially large

JACKASS!

As far as hunting...

Antonica: Lake Rathe, South Karana
Faydwer: Unrest, Mistmoore
Odus: What the hell is on Odus? Oh yeah, some big hole... don't go there at 20 though.
Kunark: Dalnir, Lake of Ill Omen (full of gimps and retards), Overthere (directly to the left of the evil outpost... just watch out for guards)
Velious: Tizmaks in Great Divide (maybe, not sure of level),(Kodiak caves there for 30-45ish)
Luclin: Not a clue, I still get lost there.

Try going to your character screen deleteing your ranger and making a warrior. This usually helps you find groups and get XP...

Bah, a Ranger is twenty times more fun than a Warrior.

By that logic, it's also 500 times more fun than my Necro!

I am currently amazed that there have been straight responses to this. Upper Guk could also be a pretty good spot for a trio to get some good exp. Dalnir would be good but tough to get out of unless you have a group porter.

Warrior? LOL.

Forget the warrior. Make a monk or rogue. You'll be MUCH happier in the end.

ranger is a very fun class to play, you chose wisely ;)

Kurn's Tower is a great xp zone for high teens. Problem is that you have to come with your group pre-assembled most of the time i would guess. The xp in that zone totally kicks ass.

The Kunark dungeons in general are pretty neat, but can be dangerous, and are usually empty. If in time you find a regular group of people to xp with, you may want to make it to Dalnir, kaessora, etc. The zones are cool.

20-25 i did South Karana
25-30 Cazic Thule (don't even zone in there, it is super dangerous now)
30-33 Solusek A
33-50 Lower Guk (xp is better than ever there cause it is empty :p)

I"m not sure where the places to get pickup groups are these days, but just go explore places and meet people, and do your best to level up. Equipment will come to you as you level up, so don't focus on sitting on your ass in freeport too much buying and selling (unless that is what is fun for you).

Paludal Caverens is good till 25 or so, then I would move to lower guk myself. You can do bats and spiders till 30 ish then move into the rest of lower guk. Guk will keep you there till 50 or 51 then go to Karners till 54 or Ocean of Tears till 54 from there Sebilis (requires a key, see quest info on Trakanon teeth zone) till level 60, disco if you can get it in sebilis is awesome exp. Also shrooms and Juggs good too.

If you get bored with guk at 40 or so move to Sol B dungeon or Dreadlands and surrounding zones in Kunark.

If you want a guide in lower guk look me up.

what ninan said...just never hunt to LOIO or Dreadlands...ever! explore the world, deffinately use old world content, i still think its some of the most fun for any level. make use of its uberness

Mistmoore is bad for trains too.

If you have luclin, also try the tunnels in netherbian lair, can't remember exactly what level the fungoids and fiends are, but a group there might be ok, and there is a few zones you can run to if things turn really ugly ;)

It's usually pretty quiet too, as most people are just passing through there to get to the higher level zones.

20 to 25/27 Lake Rath was great

25 to 35 Nerb lair is fun and great exp

Echo Caverns also is awesome as the exp range is from 25 to about 50 if u choose the right camp. Plus it is next to SH/bazar so is a short run for supplies and stuff.

Lguk owns all of course hehehe.

25 - 35 splitpaw in Sk is awesome also as I think it has like +20% exp bonus on it.

for lev's 20+ I'd stick in South Karana or Paludal Caverns (LOIO gave me nightmares so I rarely fought there)

Splitpaw is cool exp.. then if I remember correctly Wolves in IceClad.. but I think they're 35ish.

Keep a lookout for zones with animals and fear kite them. with the rogue bs'ing and a ranger to tank for 10 sec till you get another fear off. sabretooths in loio, kodiacs and wolves in ew.

Try HHK.

Great zone to hunt in through 36 or 37.

Bank and vendors nearby. Pretty much all you need there.

NEVER Understimate the Might of Mistmoore!

Seriously, the zone is very fun.

Personally, I like Sol A. But since the caster rebuff, it can be a tad more difficult. As everyone else said, dungeons are the best xp around. Some other places you can do:

<Old world>
Upper Guk
South Karana
Lake Rathe
Warrens
Kerra Island

<Kunark>
LOIO (bad idea, but everyone goes there)
Warslik Woods
Dalnir entrance
Kurn's Tower
Swamp of No Hope
Field of Bone
Overthere

<Luclin>
Pal Caverns
Neth Lair
Hallowshade Moor

Just finished level 25 and now 26 on my lil rog. Did 18 thru 26 in Paludal Caverns. At 26 to many greenies s it is time to move to Lower guk and since I made a rog I am not powerleveling in the least. Need all my skillsets maxed thru usage.

Beauty of Lower Guk is there is usually nobody in the zone to compete with. Exp extravoganza there for sure. Only problem is it is hard to backstab when soloing Lol.

If you want to go somewhere relatively close you can go to Unrest. Gfay -> Butcherblock -> Dagnor's Cauldron -> Unrest

Your best option is to go to the moon tho imo. Pald Caverns is great exp. Go to the spires in Gfay and port up to Nexus. Then Nexus->Shadowhaven (a city you can bind/resupply) and then Paludal Caverns is across the big wooden bridge.

Whatever you do, don't reply to Kyoukan's question.
