treason!?

Post by Xzion »

Comedian Bill Maher's mouth has landed him in hot water--again.

Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.) says Maher's comment on HBO's "Real Time With Bill Maher" May 13, that the U.S. military has already recruited all the "low-lying fruit," is possibly treasonous and at least grounds to cancel the show.

"More people joined the Michael Jackson fan club," Maher said of the Army's low recruitment numbers for April. "We've done picked all the low-lying Lynndie England fruit, and now we need warm bodies."

England was accused of abusing prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

"I think it borders on treason," Bachus said. "In treason, one definition is to undermine the effort or national security of our country."

In a statement released Monday, Maher defended his support for the U.S. armed forces.

"Anyone who knows anything about my views and has watched my show knows that I have nothing but the highest regard for the men and women serving this country around the world," he said in the statement.

Bachus said he was appalled after watching a rerun of the show on his return from a visit to Germany, where he had met with a paralyzed U.S. soldier.

Numerous television stations pulled Maher's previous show, "Politically Incorrect," from the air in September 2001 after he argued terrorists weren't cowards when they slammed airplanes into the World Trade Center and Pentagon a week earlier. Maher later apologized.

I was shocked when I heard of this story, the now extremist lawmakers in congress are trying to call treason on someone for speaking there minds? The last time a scenario like this was debated in a civilized nation was in fascist Europe.

I re-read the thread to see exactly where anyone suggested that Spencer Bachus should not be allowed to speak his mind.
After I found no such suggestion, I concluded that you are a complete and total fucking retard.

the points that you missed are that Rep. Bacchus as a member of the federal government is saying that Mr. Maher committed a FELONY that is punishible by DEATH.

i dont think anybody is taking this idiot seriously, but the fact of the matter is that it is extremely irresponsible of Mr. Bacchus to make such statements, and it reflects a poor understanding of the Constitution and law in general, which this man has the power to influence.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Just in case you missed that Cart... I'm betting you can quote the second though, right?

With power comes responsibility. Bill M is a Comedian... he makes JOKES. The other guy works for the people of this country to make laws. I hold those 2 to different standards of behavior.

This is dumb and doesn't even deserve any attention what-so-ever.

Bill is a comedian who has said much worse things than this before. It is not treason imho. It's not anything but more stupid shit Bill always says to cater to his crowd.

That senator was from Alabama. They still think it is treasonous to let a negro have his freedom from their cotton farm. It is one retard trying to get his name known since even bad publicity will make his name easier to remember at election time.

Although....... I would probably vote for someone if they had Bill Maher put to death. I would definitely vote for someone if they put Ann Coulter and Michael Moore to death.

Thats where we differ. I don't wish death on Michael Moore at all. I just think what is spewing is wrong and more hurtful than helpful. But, in this country based on freedom, he has every right to say those things.

Yeah. There's a vote put to use wisely. Having someone put to death because they have differing opinions. Hell they may even be jews too. Kill two birds with one stone! So to speak.

If you kill them both off, my dream of making my reality tv show will never be!

Force Moore and Coulter to have a baby and make them raise it together. I call it 'Land of Confusion' and Genisis would sing the theme song.

If Moore and Coultier screwed, would the product bring balance to the force? Because I think it might be worth it.

I think he's breaking new ground for the FCC. Now instead of personal fines, they're just going to charge any broadcaster with treason for anything which is deemed inappropriate by their completely open to interpretation standards!

I thought Coulter was trans-gender, have you seen those huge fucking man-hands she has?! I also seem to recall a reference to her Adam's Apple too... or was that just in jest?

I think most of you are saying she is ugly because you disagree with her political stances though.

Nah, political stance or not I would hit that with Cart's dick. Someone needs to start by getting her some Joe Weider's Ultra Weight Gainer and a set of 3 lb barbells... yuck, she is so freakin' nasty skinny...

besides of course the adams apple she does have a very masculine structured face, picture her without long hair wearing a suit...she would easily pass for a man, i honestly wouldnt be surprised if she was born a hermaphrodite and then operated on
